Google Android for iPhone 3G Ready for Download

Just a few weeks ago we wrote about how someone had managed to get Google Android ported over to the Apple iPhone 2G where the OS was installed in a dual-boot mode.

Porting Google [GOOG] Android on to the iPhone 3G happened after that and now we hear that the Android download is ready for install on any jailbroke iPhone 3G.

Most features and functions work on the Android for iPhone build although it’s recommended that you do not use it for day to day use due to power management features not being full implemented. With these features not configured the iPhone battery can be drained within an hour. [Read more…]

iPhone to get Classic Prince of Persia

The original Prince of Persia game is heading to the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The game originally launched back in 1989 and came with amazing animation along with a few gory bits such as dropping dead on spikes for example.

This same game from the late 80’s will be landing on the iPhone very soon. At the moment Ubisoft has the launch date as last month although that has been delayed (as it’s not available yet). Hopefully we’ll see it soon though as it brings a cool story line, excellent animation and an all round good game to the iPhone. [Read more…]

Official Twitter iPhone App Launching

The official Twitter application is launching for the iPhone today. The new Twitter app is also known as Tweetie 3 and should be showing up shortly on app stores around the globe.

Last night, Tweetie 2 was removed from the app store which indicated that the new rebranded Twitter application was going to launch. As Twitter purchased Tweetie, they are now renaming this new version to just Twitter and it will be the only official twitter application in the app store. [Read more…]

iPhone Internet Tethering made possible in iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4 Launch

Apple [AAPL] has launched the latest beta for iPhone OS 4.0 which brings it one step closer to being launched for the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4G when available.

One of the features found by users indicates that we might finally see internet tethering on the iPhone. The settings screens pictured above (and larger below) show the network settings page with a control for Internet Tethering over Bluetooth or USB. When selecting this option a screen is presented asking you to enable the account via a phone number or a website. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4G Leaked Again

Things can’t be going too well for Apple [AAPL] at the moment after another iPhone 4G has been leaked in Vietnam. Perhaps we are looking at the same phone we have seen a couple of times before though. Right now, I’ve lost track of how many phones there have been captured on camera that all look very similar. I believe it might be the fifth as there was one captured earlier this year before the Gizmodo leak, then the Gizmodo leak, then Vietnam, then France and now Vietnam again. The last three and perhaps the first could all be the same unit though.

Either way, we now have a video of the iPhone running what appears to be some sort of diagnostic screen called Inferno. This looks to be a “bonfire” at the top of the screen with some text at the bottom of the screen showing some sort of USB status and a command saying Run Bonfire.

Some people believed the Inferno screen was just a static image, as in a sticker on the screen or a fake screen. We now see that this is part of the innards of the OS. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4G – 24 Million to Ship in 2010

Digitimes is reporting today that Foxconn will be shipping 24 million Apple iPhone 4G units this year. 4.5 million units will be shipping in the first half and that will be followed by 19.5 million units in the final half of 2010. Apple [AAPL] is planning on the 4G being a huge success.

Foxconn will ship 4.5 million units in the first half and 19.5 million units for the rest of 2010. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 4G on June 7, 2010 during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.

We also hear that the iPhone 4G will use an IPS (in plane switching) screen just like the technology used in the Apple iPad. As well as using IPS the screens will also use FFS (fringe-field switching). The resolution of the iPhone 4G screen will be 960 x 640 which is significantly higher than the iPhone 3GS that has a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. [Read more…]

10 Million CDMA iPhones Heading to Verizon – Rumour

According to Digitimes, an order of 10 Million CDMA Apple iPhone units has been made which indicates they could be heading to Verizon. Of course this is just a mere rumour though as we also heard earlier this week that the deal between AT&T [T] and Apple [AAPL] was for 5 years and started in 2007 and will run to 2012 although this is currently being challenged.

If the exclusivity ends that AT&T currently have then Verizon would surely welcome the iPhone on to their network. This rumour ads to many other rumours over the last few months that have indicated that this year will be the year where Verizon finally get to offer the iPhone. Of course, until we receive official notification from Apple or Verizon, we will never know for sure. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4G running iPhone OS 4.0 is Photoshopped

We posted earlier today about an Apple iPhone 4G (leaked phone) that was running what appeared to be iPhone OS 4.0. After some people did some investigating they believe that the OS 4.0 overlay is now fake and photoshopped on to the original picture.

Reasons for believing this to be the case is for a couple of things. The first is the left edge of the screen appearing to be too close to the edge making a smaller bezel than actually exists.

Also there is a grey strip that runs on the right side at the top of the screen. According to those in the know, this strip should continue all the way across the top of the screen to the left side of the device. [Read more…]

AirVolt Wireless iPhone Charger

If you quite like the idea of charging your Apple iPhone wirelessly then the AirVolt Wireless iPhone charger is for you. The device requires that you put your iPhone in a receiver case (included in the kit) and once placed in the casing you simply place the iPhone on to a pad which charges the iPhone wirelessly.

The AirVolt is a ThinkGeek Exclusive: you won’t find it anywhere else! Simply slide your phone into the included receiver case, place it on the power tray, and watch in amazement as your phone charges wirelessly via induction. It works just as quickly as a standard charger and automatically powers off once your phone is completely charged. And the best part? It’s half the price of those other wireless phone chargers so you’ll be able to afford pizza for D&D night.

Apple iPhone 4G Spotted the Third Time

Well, we have another few images of the Apple iPhone 4G that appear to have come from a third leak. Previous leaks included the Gizmodo leak last month and the Vietnamese leak a couple of days ago.

This model is also a 16GB model and like the Vietnamese model, lacks the screws either side of the 30 pin dock connector. The Gizmodo phone was believed to be an older prototype as it still contained the screws just like the iPhone 3G and 3GS have.

Not much information has been provided about this particular leak, and perhaps we are looking at the same iPhone 4G that was photographed in Vietnam this week. [Read more…]

iPhone OS 4.0 Might get Built in Facebook App

Gizmodo are reporting today that the Apple iPhone OS 4.0 release could have Facebook integrated with the iPhone. This isn’t just another Facebook app mind you, it’s actually a deep integration.

The integration could include contact syncing collecting your iPhone contacts and Facebook contacts and storing them in a central location. Also direct connection with apps to Facebook like how the Photo section of the iPhone can already do.

Traces of code in the beta updates is indicating the heavy integration although nothing has been found or confirmed yet officially. [Read more…]
