Rovio has launched Angry Birds for Android devices. The new app is still in beta testing stages.

By porting the already iPhone/iPad successful game to Android, the company behind it allow mllions more users to potentially download and buy the game.

“And Angry Birds have landed on Android:-)” the company said, adding “If you have any problems with the Android beta, let us know. It’s a beta, so we know it’s not perfect. Help us make it better.”

Royal Mail Introduces the Intelligent Stamp

Royal Mail has created the worlds first Intelligent Stamp. The new stamp is capable of working with image recognition technology.

The intelligent stamp works with an augmented reality app called Junaio. When receiving a letter with a new stamp attached you can hold the camera of an iPhone or Android phone over the stamp. The software recognises the stamp and is able to pull up information, video clips and other details about what is on the stamp and play back the information to you. [Read more…]

iOS 4.2 iPad Page Goes Live at Apple

Apple [AAPL] has uploaded a new page to it’s website that provides the official details of iOS 4.2 for iPad. The iOS 4.2 release date is November this year which will bring everything to iPad which includes multi-tasking, folders as well as the ability to print among a number of other enhancements.

On the official iOS 4.2 page, Apple mention that over 100 enhancements will be added to the iPad with the update. These features include the much wanted multitasking that allows you to switch quickly between apps. This works exactly how it does on the iPhone running iOS 4.

Folders is another feature wanted by many. Folders also works the same was as the iPhone/iPod touch running iOS 4 in that you drag 1 icon on to another to create a folder. [Read more…]

New iPod touch Could have 1 Megapixel Camera on Back

It appears that the new iPod touch has a different camera in the back when compared to the iPhone 4.

The iPod touch specs reveal that the camera on the back can capture images at 960 x 720 pixels which equates to about 1 megapixel. This is below the 5 megapixels of the iPhone 4 camera. [Read more…]

Apple AirPlay

Apple AirPlay is a service that lets you stream music around your home over wireless networks. The technology will be integrated in to a number of devices such as speaker docks, AV receivers and stereo systems.

Say you have one set of speakers in your bedroom, one in the office, and one in the living room. For the ultimate sonic panorama, you can stream your tunes to more than one room simultaneously, so you’ll never lose the beat, no matter where you are in the house. Just select “Multiple Speakers” from the speaker pulldown menu in iTunes. AirPlay works over Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection, or a combination of both. So you can stream music directly from your home network if you’re near an Ethernet port or connect wirelessly if you’re not.

Apple [AAPL] announced iTunes 10 with Ping today. The new version brings a number of new features to the desktop application.

The new iTunes 10 application brings music-orientated social networking to users. Ping lets you post your thoughts and opinions on music and songs that can be shared with other users.

New iPod touch Announced

Apple [AAPL] has announced the next generation iPod touch. The new model brings a number of new features including the retina display and the Apple A4 chip both found in the iPhone 4.

The iPod touch according to Apple, is the number 1 portable games playing system in the world. It has over a 50% market share in both the US and the world which is quite impressive.

New features include the Retina Display that has 4x the pixel density of the previous screen. The pixel density is 326ppi which is more than the eye can distinguish. It is thinner than the previous model and has a 3 axis gyro built in. [Read more…]

iOS 4.1 Release Date – Week Beginning September 6

Apple [AAPL] announced today that iOS 4.1 is launching next week (second week of September).

iOS 4.1 is for the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 and newer generation iPod touch devices. The new iOS 4.1 fixes the slowness problems found in the iPhone 3G and brings a number of new features, or enhanced features to the iOS devices. Note that this version is not for the iPad. iOS 4.2 for iPad Release Date – November

Apple [AAPL] announced today that iOS 4.2 would be launching in November this year.

iOS 4.2 is the follow on from iOS 4.1 that is launching today and brings iOS 4 to the iPad.

iPod touch 4 Case Leaks

The iPod touch 4 might be announced today at the Apple [AAPL] event that is happening in a couple of hours time.

A new iPod touch 4 case has launched which further strengthens these rumours of an iPod touch 4. This time the case is from a mainstream case maker.

The iPod touch 4 is expected to be very similar to the iPhone 4 in that it is expected that it will have two cameras, perhaps a glass front and back and be capable of making FaceTime calls via email activation. [Read more…]

New Screen has Pixels Eight Times Smaller than Retina Display

When Apple [AAPL] launched the iPhone 4, it came with the retina display. The retina display had a higher pixel density squashing more pixels in to an inch than any other mobile screen. The results are that individual pixels cannot be distinguished between when holding the phone at about a foot or more from the eye.

The pixel density could be smashed though as researchers have created a screen that has eight times the pixel density of the retina display. The researchers are based at the University of Michigan who created the screen with nanometer-thin sheets of metal that are named nanresonators. [Read more…]
