RIM Working on BlackBerry External Antenna – Rumour

RIM (Research in Motion) could be working on an external antenna design according to details found by BBLeaks.

One of BBLeaks sources sent in a picture showing a BlackBerry Pearl 9100 with an external antenna and also indicated that a lot of these devices with external antennas could be found at RIM’s headquarters in Canada.

The iPhone 4 launched back in June this year and also had an external antenna design that had a number of issues reported by the media and users of the phone. iOS 4.0.2 Jailbreak Will Not Happen

The iPhone Dev Team has mentioned that iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 3.2.2 will not get a jailbreak.

The reasons are not due to them being stuck and not knowing what to do. Instead, they are waiting for a major release to be launched such as iOS 4.1 for the iPhone so that more iPhone users can take advantage of the exploit.

Now it’s a few weeks later, and Apple has closed the jailbreakme.com hole. They’re shipping devices with FW 4.0.2/3.2.2, impervious to this particular jailbreak. So now, people will begin to ask: will there be a jailbreak for devices that shipped with 4.0.2/3.2.2, out of the box?

No, there won’t be. FW 4.0.2/3.2.2 was *only* released to fix the jailbreakme hole. With FW 4.1 still in its beta stages, it makes no sense to escalate the ‘cat & mouseĀ with Apple for FW updates that only fix the jailbreak holes.

Visa Testing Contact-less Payments with Bank of America

Visa is developing a system with Bank of America that will be tested in the next few weeks. The new system will allow contactless payments to be made with a digital wallet system. If successful, we could see these type of payments becoming main stream of the next few years.

The trials are being run next month in the New York area. Although these kinds of payments are not the common thing to see in the US or Europe, they have been working successfully in Japan for a number of years. We are basically left playing catchup with Japan like with all things such as HDTV. [Read more…]
