Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Heading to Vodafone UK

Last week we came across information indicating that Vodafone in the UK could be getting the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini. This has now been confirmed by a coming soon page on the Vodafone online store.

The X10 Mini from Sony Ericsson is an Android OS phone that has a small 2.5 inch screen (hence the Mini name). It has a 5 megapixel camera on the back and also has a built in GPS. For connectivity it will connect to 3G and HSDPA networks and also has Bluetooth and WiFi available for connections to the web if needed. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S 16GB Heading to Vodafone UK

As well as launching the Samsung Wave on to the Vodafone network in the UK, Vodafone is also bringing the Samsung Galaxy S 16GB to the network as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S was also announced several months ago and runs a very powerful GPU capable of moving a high amount of triangles on screen. The phone it’s self runs Google Android 2.1, it has the Samsung Super AMOLED screen to provide a HD resolution. It is also exclusive to Vodafone.

The Super AMOLED screen measures 4 inches. The camera on the back is capable of capturing pictures at 5 megapixels. Other features of the phone also include GPS, WiFi for connectivity as well as 3G and HSDPA. [Read more…]

Samsung Wave Heading to Vodafone UK

Today, Vodafone added several new smartphones to their online store and have put coming soon pages up for each of them. The first of the smartphones is the Samsung Wave.

The Samsung Wave was first announced back in February. It uses the Samsung Super AMOLED display that provides a HD resolution screen. The camera is capable of capturing images at 5 megapixels. The smartphone also includes GPS.

The Samsung Wave uses the Samsung Bada OS that heavily revolves around social networking by allowing you to add live updates from Twitter and other social networking sites direct on the home page. [Read more…]

Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 Now Ready for Pre-Order

Just a day after Sony announced the Sony NEX-5 and Sony NEX-3, we learn that both cameras are now available for pre-order.

The Sony NEX-5 is the higher end model of the two new cameras and comes with two options. When purchasing you get a choice of the camera and the 18-55mm E-Mount lens, or the option of a 16mm prime lens. Each option costs $699.99 and $649.99 respectively.

Next up is the Sony NEX-3 that drops full HD 1080 recording as well as ads a little bulk to the camera and also drops a few other features… but costs $100 less. Options here include the same 18-55mm lens which costs $599.99 or with the 16mm prime lens the price drops to $549.99. [Read more…]

HTC EVO 4G Landing June 4 for $199

We finally have official news about the HTC EVO 4G and the launch date. The 4G smartphone will be made available on June 4 with a price tag of $199 on contract. The phone will cost an extra $10/month though on top of a service plan to connect up to the higher speed network – Update: This $10/month is for those wanting to get rid of download limits. Also, for wireless sharing mentioned below, that’s an extra $30/month which Sprint point out is cheaper than buying a mobile broadband connection.

The HTC EVO 4G is the first 4G smartphone being launched in America. The 4G network being used is provided through Sprint who run the network across a number of States in the US with more coverage being added through out the coming years.

The HTC EVO 4G has two cameras built in with one facing forwards for video calls and the other facing backwards to capture photos while out and about. The rear facing camera can capture images at 8 megapixels while the front camera is 1.3 megapixels. It runs Android 2.1 and has full access to over 35,000 apps found in the Android Market. Casio EX-FH100 Reviewed

Photography Blog has done another lengthy review. The Casio EX FH100 review goes in to eight pages worth of review covering all aspects of the digital camera and what it can and cannot do.

The Casio EX-FH100 has a 10 megapixel sensor, is capable of 10X zoom and has an illuminated sensor to help with darkened shots. One of the more impressive features is it’s ability to capture video at 1000 frames per second providing the ability to capture some amazing slow motion shots.

The review is quite positive although a bit of work on the innards of the camera is said to be needed which includes poor quality images when settings of over ISO 200 are used. [Read more…]

LG Ally official on Verizon – Ships May 20 for $100

Verizon [VZ] today formally announced the LG Ally along with a release date and pricing. The LG Ally will be launched on May 20 and will cost $100 on contract.

The LG Ally is the first ever LG Android based phone to be launched in the US. The Ally comes installed with the Android 2.1 operating system along with a slightly tweaked UI by LG.

Technical spec wise it has 802.11n connectivity, GPS built in and a full QWERTY slide out keyboard. Live wallpapers can be used on this device.

Around the back a 3.2 megapixel camera can be found along with a flash. The camera can capture pictures and video although there are no HD resolutions on this smartphone. [Read more…]

Eye-Fi 4GB Geo X2 WiFi SDHC Card Begins Shipping

The Geo X2 Eye-Fi card has begun shipping in the US. For some reason, the Apple [AAPL] store has exclusive rights on selling the product and today, is now shipping it to those who have pre-ordered it.

The Eye-Fi Geo X2 has 4GB of storage space along with WiFi connectivity built in allowing the easy transfer of files whilst the card is in the camera. The Geo X2 is a Class 6 SDHC card allowing cameras and other gadgets to write up to 6MB/s to the card.

The wireless built in to the Geo X2 works on 802.11b/g/n networks. Auto-geotagging is also built in allowing all photos captured by a camera to be tagged with the location is was shot in. [Read more…]

Deal of the Day: Kodak Zx1 HD Camcorder £39.97

Amazon have a cracking deal on the Kodak Zx1 HD Camcorder at the moment bringing the price down from £149.99 all the way down to £39.97.

The camera is capable of capturing video in 720p HD and comes with 128MB of internal memory. Although this will only be good for a few minutes of video capture, you can purchase an additional SD or SDHC card for quite cheap at the moment which still makes the £110 saving a cracking deal.

The camera can be connected up to YouTube with it’s built in software and allows you to easily upload to the free service direct from the camera. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4G Spotted Again

After the huge leak over on Gizmodo about the Apple iPhone 4G, we are now seeing more pictures of what looks to be a slightly updated prototype model. When we say updated, we mean a couple of screws around the dock connector are not on this version captured by camera.

Other than that the phone appears to be a prototype due to the XXX stamp on the back although this model of the Apple iPhone 4G looks to have 16GB of storage.

The phone was captured on a Vietnamese website which we assume had close contacts with the factory where the iPhone 4G is being built for Apple [AAPL]. [Read more…]

LG Ally coming May 20 – Pre-orders to start May 13

Details of the LG Ally have been revealed by the team over at BGR. The LG Ally will be up for pre-order on May 13 and will follow a week later on May 20 with a launch in all channels.

The LG Ally comes with a 600MHz processor and runs with 256MB of RAM. It will run Android 2.1 from Google [GOOG] and come with an LG user interface. The phone it’s self is a slider that opens to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard.

Features running on the device include a calendar, weather/time and socialite widgets. Verizon has also made some changes to the UI and included features such as Visual Voicemail and V CAST media manager. [Read more…]

Canon Powershot SD4000 IS Digital ELPH Announced

Canon has announced a new digital camera called the Canon Powershot SD4000. The new digital camera falls in to a new series of camera called Digital ELPH that uses a high-sensitivity system allowing for the lens to capture at a bright f/2.0 setting.

The camera is a point and shoot camera that uses the Canon HS System to capture the enhanced images. As well as being good at capturing in low light situations the camera is also capable of capturing in HD.

The CMOS sensor can capture at 10 megapixels and is back-illuminated. For processing images after they are captured the camera uses the DIGIC 4 image processor. By using the DIGIC 4 in line with the HS SYSTEM the camera can enhance the images as well as reduce noise at higher ISO speeds. [Read more…]
