Space Shuttle Atlantis Final Launch Video

Check out this amazing video showing Space Shuttle Atlantis launching recently on it’s final flight in to Space. NASA use many cameras dotted around the launch pad (39A) and attached to the shuttle to capture the launch from every angle. The video shows a collection of these showing many angles where you see the engines fire up to the Shuttle lifting off and all the way up to the boosters dropping off then the tank dropping off.

Samsung Galaxy S Available for Pre-Order in Germany

Amazon in Germany has made the Samsung Galaxy S available for pre-order on it’s site. The Galaxy S can be pre-ordered and will cost ‚¬649 when launched. The smartphone of course, will be unlocked.

The Samsung Galaxy S has a 1GHz ARM processor that is based on the Hummingbird design and is supposed to be faster than the similar spec 1GHz Snapdragon CPU that’s more commonly used in new smartphones.

The Galaxy S has a 4.1 inch display and uses a Super AMOLED touchscreen that provides amazing visuals on the device. The camera is capable of capturing video at a HD resolution of 720p. [Read more…]

Dell Streak now Official at O2

Yesterday we reported that the Dell Streak was to launch in June exclusively on the O2 network in the UK. O2 has now uploaded details to the site which confirm that June 4 is the launch date for the mini tablet device.

The Dell Streak is a smartphone that is described as not being a smartphone due to it’s large 5 inch screen that allows better web browsing, entertainment, gaming, shopping, social networking and navigation. The 5 inch screen is multitouch and is capable of showing HD movies.

The Streak has a 5 megapixel camera on the back along with a front facing camera that allows video calls to be made. [Read more…]

MSI Slatebook Details Arrive

MSI has released a few details of the MSI Slatebook that is due to launch next month at Computex.

The Slatebook will use an Intel Atom processor (possibly the Z series) and have a 10 inch screen. The operating system MSI is installing will be a version of Windows 7.

For connectivity the Slatebook will have WiFi and 3G allowing you to connect up in most places. Also, MSI say the device will have a battery life of 8 hours making it almost as competitive as the Apple iPad that is capable of 10 hours on a single charge. [Read more…]

Dell Streak Heading Exclusively to O2 in the UK

O2 has announced that the Dell Streak will be exclusive on it’s network in the UK.

The new device is being made available on O2 both in store and on-line as well as at the Carphone Warehouse and later on next month at Dell. A US launch of the Streak will happen later this year.

The Dell Streak is a 5 inch Android tablet that has 3G connectivity built in allowing users to be online anywhere. The Android based device allows users to keep in touch, check email, browse social media apps as well as play media. With the device having a 5 inch screen it makes it portable enough to carry around, but larger than a phone making it more comfortable to use. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 180 percent Faster than N97

Although we had a bit of a let down when we heard the Nokia N8 wasn’t due to ship till August, we still hear good news today in that early benchmark tests reveal that the N8 is very quick.

The Nokia N8 has some decent specifications that include a nice 12 megapixel camera although the CPU was thought to be a little on the slow side at 680MHz. However, some benchmark tests have been performed that show the N8 is still quite quick and in fact, it maxed out the benchmarking software on some tests.

Finestfones managed to get some time with the Nokia N8 recently and they decided to use an app called Speedy Go! that allows Symbian users to test their phones and see what kind of frame rates they can get out of it. The Speedy Go! application lets users test various functions with or without the graphics accelerator on. When the accelerator was switched off the phone managed to beat the Nokia N97 by 180%. Space Shuttle Prep and Launch Captured in 4 Minute Time Lapse

Check out the amazing video below that shows six weeks of shuttle launch preparation squashed in to a 4 minute time lapse video.

The time lapse video was created by using several Canon EOS 5D Mark II cameras. The video shows the shuttle preparation where you see it being moved from one location to another and then winched up and attached to the external tank followed by the whole lot rolled across to the launch pad. Logitec to Launch Google TV Companion Box

Yesterday, Google [GOOG] announced the Google TV amongst other things. Google TV is a service that makes television the way it should be (in Google’s words). Two options are available to get Google TV. The first requires that you get a TV with built in Google TV. These will be developed shortly and will come from companies who work with Intel to put computers powerful enough to run the operating system.

The second option is for those who do not want to buy a specific Google TV, or for those who do not want to upgrade. This option comes in the form of a companion box that sits between your set top box and your TV.

Logitec has announced that it is getting on board with the Google TV system by creating companion boxes for users to hook up to their HDTV. The Logitec box will be the first Google TV box and will launch in the US when the service is ready to run. The system will work with the Harmony remote technology that will allow users to interact with the Google TV services. The controller includes a compact keyboard along with a touchpad. [Read more…]

myTouch 3G Slide headed to T-Mobile June 2

T-Mobile in the US is launching the myTouch 3G Slide on June 2, a few days before the HTC EVO 4G. The myTouch 3G Slide is an Android OS based smartphone that when launched, will cost $180 after a $50 rebate.

Hardware wise, the phone has a 3.4 inch screen along with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. For times when you prefer to use a virtual keyboard, the myTouch 3G Slide has the Swype keyboard preloaded.

On the back of the 3G Slide is a 5 megapixel camera and with the 3G Slide being Android based, full access to the Android Market is possible. [Read more…]

Ciphone C9 iPhone Clone can Dual-Boot OS and WM6.5

The Ciphone C9 is a clone of an Apple iPhone. The C9 can dual boot in to OS or Windows Mobile 6.5 and comes with quite a few decent features such as a GPS unit, 2 Megapixel camera, a choice of 4GB or 8GB of storage, GPS, G-Sensor, dual compass, WiFi and EDGE as well as a 3.5 inch touchscreen.

A full run down of the specifications can be found below which show that it’s actually a decent and capable phone. However, we are unsure of the build quality and if it meets that of the iPhone. Also with it running OS or WM6.5, we are not sure how good they are on the device and if it runs quick enough to make the user experience good enough. The Kodak Playsport is a rugged camcorder that is waterproof up to 3 meters. It has a 5 megapixel sensor and is capable of capturing video up to a 1080p Full HD resolution. As well as capturing video the camera can also capture 16:9 wide aspect stills. 4X digital zoom is also included.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5 Reviewed

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 has a 10.2 megapixel sensor. The lens is capable of 4x optical zoom and can go further 8x with digital zoom. Perhaps one big selling point of this camera is that it’s built to be rigged and therefore is protected against dirt, water, cold and shock.

The image sensor on the DSC-TX5 is an Exmor R type that uses a back lighted CMOS sensor to enhance shots when captured in low light conditions.

Overall, Photography Blog give the camera a good rating of 4 out of 5 stars and also recommend it by saying it’s the type of camera you will often slip in to your pocked when going out for the day. [Read more…]
