Although Verizon ran out of pre-orders within the first day, the smartphone actually set the record on the Verizon network for the fastest selling device in 24 hours. In fact, it sold that quick that it took the record in just 2 hours of the doors opening. Virtual doors opened at 3am Eastern and by 5am the record was set.
Due to the quick depletion of pre-orders, Verizon is not able to open up pre-orders until the 9th February. [Read more…]
Some handy changes have been made to the Apple iPad App Store in the last 24 hours. Now when performing a search in the app store (on the iPad), there are several filtering options that are available.
What these options do is allow you to filter between the category, release date, customer rating, price and device (iPad or iPhone). At the moment, the updated app store is only available to iPad owners and it isn’t clear just yet if the smaller screen iPod touch and iPhone will get the same treatment. [Read more…]
Rumors are hinting that Apple might announce the iPad 2 on the same day that iOS 4.3 is announced. That date is expected to be February 13.
The reasoning behind this date is that iOS 4.3 will be announced which will bring hotspot functions to the iPhone. Also, this marks the 2 week end to the Verizon deal where the company are picking up the tab for those subscribing to The Daily iPad app. [Read more…]
It looks like the iPhone 4 on the Verizon network is in high demand. Verizon and Apple have now stopped taking pre-orders for the smartphone just one day after it was made available for pre-order.
For those wanting to still get the Verizon iPhone 4 on the day of launch, all is not lost as Verizon and Apple are re opening pre-orders on February 9 at 3:01am Eastern, so make sure you stay up late that night. If you don’t want to wait up till the early hours of the morning, the other option is to get in line at an Apple or Verizon store on February 10 at 7am when the device will go on sale in what looks to be limited numbers. Apple has made iOS 4.3 beta 3 available to developers for download. The download became available last night and is the next step to bringing the final version for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch owners to download.
The version number is 8F5166b and comes two weeks after the beta 2 launch. This particular version works on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch with a second version of it being made available for Apple TV owners. [Read more…]
We are hearing reports today that the White iPhone 4 will finally be landing in the UK next month in March. This will finally see the smartphone being made available several months after it was originally intended to arrive.
Back in June 2010, the iPhone 4 was announced and also Apple announced at the time that they would have a white version available. The white version was then delayed and delayed again and we are still waiting for it to arrive. [Read more…]
Pictures of the iPad 2 screen have leaked on to the Internet. What we see is a comparison between the iPad and the iPad 2 display. The new one is thinner by about 1mm and also has a slimmer bezel which should help shrink the iPad 2 down a little in size.
Some investigations have revealed that the screen will still have the 1024×768 resolution and not be retina as originally rumored. This is thanks to the model number found on a sticker with the reference number LP097x02 SLN1. Each of those sets of digits has a meaning such as it being created by LG Phillips, 097 refers to it being a 9.7 inch screen, SL means H-IPS and N1 is unknown at the moment. More details of the iPad 2 have leaked out in the last couple of days. This time, the rumors/leaks revolve around the screen, processor and the size of the tablet.
The first rumor hints at Apple opting for a 1.2GHz dual core processor. The processor will be the Cortex A9 and as well as having the dual core processor, hints at it having an Imagination Technologies SGX 543 dual core GPU have also been mentioned. We also hear that RAM will be bumped up to 512MB rather than the 256MB available on the current iPad. [Read more…]
Samsung has indicated that it has sold two million Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablets since its launch about three months ago. The device went on sale in October of 2010.
If the numbers are correct, this shows an increase in the sales rate as it took 2 months to reach 1 million and less than 2 months to reach the second million. [Read more…]
News Corp has announced the launch date of its new digital news paper called The Daily. The launch date will be February 2 and is believed to be launched in time with the new Apple subscription platform that will be made available in iTunes.
The Daily will be launched at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Apple will have Eddy Cue attending who is the VP of Internet Services. Also, we hear Rupert Murdoch will also be attending the event. [Read more…]
When Apple announced the iPhone almost 8 months ago, they said that black and white versions would be launching. Of course, we waited and waited even longer and still wait now for the white iPhone 4 to launch.
Good news for some is that it looks like the white iPhone 4 might be launching soon as it has started to appear on a number of websites in the UK such as Three and Orange as well as a provider in Germany and has appeared in stock listings for AT&T in the US. [Read more…]
RIMs senior business marketing VP has commented that the battery life on the PlayBook will either match or beat that of the Apple iPad.
The iPad battery life on the WiFi version is just over 10 hours with the 3G version following closely behind it. When the PlayBook was seen at CES with a 93% battery life it showed as having just 4 hours and 5 minutes remaining life left which indicates RIM needs to do a lot of optimizing to attain that goal.
