Some sales details have leaked about the number of Verizon iPhone and AT&T iPhones sold over a five day period. The numbers show that the Verizon version of the iPhone was outselling the AT&T model on all days around the time of launch. However, these numbers are said to still be below what Apple and Verizon had predicted.

The numbers were found by BGR and are as follows:

– Thursday: Verizon = 909, AT&T = 539
– Friday: Verizon = 916, AT&T = 680
– Saturday: Verizon = 660, AT&T = 471
– Sunday: Verizon = 796, AT&T = 701

Although there aren’t many differences between the iPhone on Verizon when compared to the AT&T GSM model, there are a few subtle differences in how they work.

The first is quite a major difference in that conference calls are restricted to just 3 people on the Verizon model. This number includes your self. For business users, this could kill the deal as oft times, they need to talk to multiple people. Also, the Verizon iPhone doesn’t allow you to break off to private calls like the AT&T model does. Last week, rumors of a mini iPhone were revealed. The rumors hinted at a device with a 2.5 inch screen that in total, would be 1/3 smaller than the current iPhone 4.

At the time, we heard that it would be made from some parts of older iPhone models which was being done to keep costs down. The price tag is expected to be $200 off contract, which will be amazing if Apple can get the price that cheap. Hitachi has created a new display that measures 4.5 inches and managed to pack in 1280 x 720 pixels. With the screen size and the amount of pixels on the screen, it has a slightly higher pixel density when compared to the Retina Display that Apple created for the iPhone 4.

The Retina display has a density of 326 pixels per inch while this new Hitachi model crams in 329 per inch. [Read more…]

iPhone and iPad launches are known for their huge queues. I’ve experienced it myself once, not again mind you.

What normally happens is that you get there early in the morning, sometimes a week before in the case of some people, and stand around and wait while a queue slowly moves.

Yesterday saw the launch of the Verizon iPhone 4 and Apple was prepared with all the staff as expected. Reports today indicate that Apple [AAPL], is working on a new form factor for the iPhone which could be described as being the iPhone nano.

The iPhone nano is expected to be 1/3 smaller than the regular sized iPhone and will be made from older parts. Due to the older parts being used, it is rumored to have a price tag of just $200 off contract. That makes it the same price as the regular iPhone 4 16GB on contract.

Apple has updated iBooks for the iPhone and iPad (as well as iPod touch). The new update is version 1.2.1 which brings several new features to the eBook reader.

Top of the list of updates is stability and performance. Apple have made the app run a little smoother on each device as well as prevented bugs and crashes from happening. [Read more…]

Apple tend to announce the next generation iPhone in June of each year with a release date of that model following a few weeks later.

It is expected this year that Apple will announce the iPhone 5 at WWDC which now looks to be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on the 5th June all the way through to June 9. The announcement is expected on day two which is the 6th. [Read more…]
