HTC Desire HD ROM Ported to Incredible, Desire and EVO 4G

The HTC Desire ROM was ported to the HTC HD2 earlier this week. The team at XDA Developers have now managed to port the same ROM over to the DROID Incredible, the HTC Desire and the EVO 4G.

If you go ahead and install the Desire HD ROM on your smartphone then just take note that the builds are not final and are very early in terms of getting it all working. For example, the camera is not working on any of the devices. Class the ports as a beta and a work in progress. [Read more…]

T-Mobile is beginning to open up pre-orders today for the new T-Mobile G2. The website below shows a pre-order date of September 24 through October 4 followed by a release date of October 6.

This is good news for two reasons. First reason is that it is now available to pre-order, which will certainly keep some people happier. The second reason is that the release date was thought to be October 16 which has now been announced as 10 days earlier. [Read more…]

Kindle Bookstore in US has Over 700,000 Books Available for Download

Hidden amongst the news of the Kindle Android app update earlier today, was some more news that Amazon now has over 700,000 books available for Kindle in the US.

Three weeks ago that number was 670,000 which is a nice increase of 10,000 per week if you spread it out evenly. A look back to April this year shows that 500,000 books were available.

Looking at the competition, it appears that Barnes & Noble is still ahead with a claim of 1 million titles that can be downloaded electronically. Either way, both sets of numbers are impressive. [Read more…]

New 10 Inch Galaxy Tab Could Arrive in 2011

Next year, Samsung could launch a 10 inch Galaxy Tab. The news comes from local General Manager Gary Twohig of Samsung in Ireland. He added the information to the bottom of a news story about places you’ll be able to pick up a Galaxy Tab in Ireland.

It isn’t clear exactly when the larger tablet will become available, if at all, and it isn’t known what operating system will run. We assume Android will be the choice with perhaps Android 3.0 Gingerbread being the option. [Read more…]

HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7 Captured on Camera

Some pictures of the HTC HD7 (or perhaps the HD3) have been posted online. The reason we are not so sure of the name at the moment is that it clearly says HD3 on the back of the device although earlier reports and documents leaked from O2 and other places indicate that the new Windows Phone 7 device will be called the HD7. It could be that this particular prototype is an early model before they changed the name of it.

The device its self looks just like the HTC HD7 drawings found on the web a few days back.

Either way, we know that the device above will run Windows Phone 7 and will be a step up from the popular HTC HD2. Hopefully this time around though, people wont want to remove Windows Phone 7 in favour of Android like they did with Windows Mobile 6.5 on the HD2. [Read more…]

Samsung Captivate GPS Fix Incoming

Samsung has announced that a fix for the Samsung Captivate GPS problem is going to be pushed out within the next few weeks.

The problem that is in all Galaxy S class smartphones is the GPS that is often miles out in terms of how close it can track you. The fix should fix this problem for Captivate owners.

For others who want the fix, ie those who use other variants of the Galaxy S class smartphones, it appears that you’ll need to wait a little longer to get the update. [Read more…]

HTC Desire Z Release Date Getting Closer

Amazon has a habit recently for changing prices of products. The Samsung Galaxy Tab has been one device where the price has dropped from a hefty £799 down to £680 and finally down to £599 although the release date has shifted further away.

The video is about seven and a half minutes long and the majority of the video is used to demonstrate the various aspects of the software such as how web browsing works and how they have changed it a little to speed up the way we browse the web. An eBook reader app is also displayed. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Release Date Could be Delayed

Amazon in the UK has just shifted the Samsung Galaxy Tab release date from October to November on its website.

This could mean that a delay is expected and that nowhere will get it till at least November sometime. It isn’t known either if this will effect all retailers and carriers who will sell it, or if it’s just an Amazon thing (other than Expansys in the UK who has also changed the date to November 2). Right now there is no official word from Samsung about when it will be launched.

When launched, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will have a price tag of £599.99 at Amazon and at Expansys, it will cost £639.99. It isn’t clear if these are final prices either as we have seen prices a lot higher than that elsewhere. [Read more…]

HTC Desire HD Screen Shots

Thanks to the HTC Desire HD ROM leak, a number of screenshots have been captured of what the new ROM will look like when it launches. The screenshots were captured thanks to the HTC HD2 Desire HD ROM port that was released yesterday.

New features on the ROM include the latest version of HTC Sense that will soon have the ability to interface with HTCSense.com.

During the account setup, we see that the ability to create a HTC Sense account has been provided (screen shot below). This will allow the device to synchronise with the sense service to back up data as well as an option to download new themes for the Desire HD (or HD2 in this case). [Read more…]
