Android Jelly Bean 4.1 update rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S III in Europe

After a few months of waiting, Galaxy S III owners are now beginning to see an update available for download OTA in the form of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. SIII owners in Poland are amongst the first to get the latest Android update and it appears that the update will be spreading across Europe shortly.

The new update brings a number of new features to the phone which includes project butter which aims to make the user interface as sleek and smooth as possible when transitioning and responding to touch. Also, Google Now will be added to the device. Google Now is a service that aims to anticipate what the user wants to do and organises information accordingly.

SkyDrive app for Android announced – official app

Microsoft has announced that an official SkyDrive app will soon be launching on the Android platform. The new app, pictured below, has been built by Microsoft and will allow Android users to easily connect to their SkyDrive account to grab, edit or move files around whilst on the move.

Google Now Voice Search now working on Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Google Now recently launched although it had one rather big restriction… it only works on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean devices. At the moment there are not too many devices that run 4.1 Jelly Bean which makes the app out of reach for many users of the Android platform.

Users over at XDA-Developers have been working on porting the app to older versions of Android though. At the moment they now have it working on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Although the team managed to port it quite quickly the voice features were not working. Good news is that the voice features are now working and Google Now fully works on Android Ice Cream Sandwich devices.

Motorola XOOM to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update Soon

Motorola XOOM users will soon be getting an OTA update made available that will update the device to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Although the XOOM isn’t a Nexus device, it has still received every major update since its launch last year. Originally when launched it ran Android 3.0 Honeycomb and was then updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Not Arriving on HTC Desire HD

HTC has confirmed in a statement that the Desire HD will not be getting an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
