The Notion Ink Adam tablet is a device that looks like it could do seriously well. The main problems have been delays with various things which have pushed the date further and further away. The Notion Ink Adam blog also details a few new things about the device. The first detail reveals that it might come with a replaceable battery rather than a soldered in battery.

Other details include a Comic Store that will launch. More details of the Comic Store will be announced in October. [Read more…]

Google Maps Navigation Updated

Google [GOOG] has announced a new update to Google Maps for Android. The latest version to download is now 4.5 and introduces Walking Navigation (beta) to the app. Street View smart navigation has also been added to the app.

When using the new Walking Navigation features, the app gives walking directions that follow paths (when paths are in Google maps) rather than keeping you to roads like previously.

“your phone will vibrate when you need to make a turn. You can even turn off voice guidance and just use these notifications while soaking in the sights and sounds around you. To help you orient yourself with your surroundings, the map will rotate with you as you turn the phone, and walking mode uses satellite view by default. Use it like a virtual compass with satellite imagery to look ahead or help pick out landmarks along the way.”

BlackBerry App World Hits 10,000 Apps

RIM has announced on it’s twitter account that the BlackBerry AppWorld has hit 10,000 apps.

Although it’s a milestone for RIM, it’s certainly a fair ways behind the likes of Google [GOOG] and Apple [AAPL] who’s market/app store’s have reached 100,000 and 250,000 respectively recently (or there abouts).

One reason the BlackBerry App World might be quite far behind is due to the types of customers who use the smartphones. BlackBerry devices are aimed at business users and a lot of them are not as versatile in terms of games and other types of apps that you see on Android and iOS devices. [Read more…]
