iPhone 4S Has 512MB of RAM

We already heard rumblings of the iPhone 4S having just 512MB of RAM and this has now been confirmed by both iFixit who took the iPhone 4S apart yesterday and by Anandtech who did some research on the part numbers found on the chips found inside.

The possible reasons for Apple choosing to use a lower amount of RAM are likely to do with power consumption. The more RAM the more cells that need updating.

Windows Phone Mango 7.5 Launching in India

Microsoft has announced that it will be launching Windows Phone 7.5 Mango in India. The first device that will launch in India is the HTC Radar. The launch date is expected to be as early as next week. Other devices will follow in the coming months which includes the Samsung Onmia W as well as the Acer Allegro.

iPhone 4S Teardown Begins

iFixit now has an iPhone 4S and has begun taking it apart to check and confirm exactly what is inside of it. We’ve seen various official pictures from Apple that show the A5 processor and battery but other than that we don’t know the exact chips which should reveal a few more details about the inner workings of the device.

Apple Updates iPhone 4S Shipping Status – Delivery Expected Tomorrow (UK)

Apple in the UK has begun shipping the iPhone 4S to customers and currently is giving an estimated delivery date of tomorrow, October 14.

HP TouchPad gets CyanogenMod Alpha Release

The HP TouchPad can finally run Android Gingerbread thanks to CyanogenMod 7.1.0. The new update now allows you to install the Google operating system on to the HP TouchPad tablet. Note that this is an Alpha version and that it has been described as very basic and quite buggy. Some features work but a lot doesn’t so before you go ahead and install make sure you can put up with problems.

RIM Begins to Recover from BlackBerry Outage

It appears that RIM is finally managing to fix the problems for BlackBerry users that have seen outages over the last few days. At the moment, email appears to be fixed as does the BBM service. Browsing is still down though from reports that we have read.

Speaktoit for Android Sees Downloads Increase 400% on Siri Announcement

Speaktoit is an app for Android which works in a similar way to what Siri does on the iPhone 4S. It essentially lets you use natural language to communicate with your Android smartphone. Since the unveiling of Siri integration on the iPhone 4S, Speaktoit has seen the number of downloads increase 400% to about 3000 per day at the moment.

Speaktoit is similar to Siri in that it lets you use natural language to talk and command your Android smartphone. What also makes it similar is that it also understands context from what we have been told.

Apple Release OS X 10.7.2 – iCloud Integration Included

Apple has made an update for OS X available which brings iCloud support to the desktop. iCloud is a new service by Apple that lets you store all your content online (in the cloud) so that you can access it from any device.

Motorola Droid X2 Update Rolls Out

The Motorola Droid X2 has an update ready and available for download. The device will receive Google Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. To get the OTA update you simply need to navigate in the menus to Settings > About Phone > System Updates at which point, you should be able to grab the new update and install it.
