PadRacer for iPad uses iPhone for Controls

Yesterday we wrote about Chopper 2 that used a bluetooth connection between the iPad and the iPhone allowing the iPhone to be used as a controller. That particular game wont be launched for a couple of months.

But, there is another game already released called PadRacer that also uses the Apple iPhone or iPod Touch as a wireless controller for the game. Up to four players can connect their iPhones to the iPad and race around various tracks.

The video below shows the game in action where response looks good and the game looks fun to play. [Read more…]

Apple iPad Chopper 2 game uses iPhone as bluetooth Controller

The iPhone has been used before on iPad apps. One such game is Scrabble where each connected iPhone acts as a tile rack for each player.

A new idea has been created by a company called Magic Jungle Software that uses the iPhone as an actual game controller. The iPhone connects up to the iPad via a bluetooth connection and then movement is tracked along with taps on the screen making a unique control pad for the game.

The game currently being tested and developed is called Chopper 2 where a small chopper is controlled by the iPhone. The screen on the iPad is used, or if the TV out is used it can be connected up to a HDTV to provide a larger screen. Chopper 2 is a sequel to Chopper which is for the iPhone and iPod Touch. That game was downloaded over a million times. [Read more…]

LimeRa1n iPhone and iPad Unlock Coming Soon – 3.1.3 and 4.0

LimeRa1n comes from the iPhone hacker Geohot. Although the LimeRa1n tool hasn’t been announced just yet, we are hearing that it is expected soon and will be capable of unlocking iPhone OS 3.1.3 and iPhone OS 4.0 (no word on the iPad’s 3.2 OS just yet). A website has been set up that can be found here although at the moment it’s simply a rain drop on a black screen.

It is expected that when LimeRa1n does launch (hopefully next month) that it will also get rid of the current tethered boot that the BlackRa1n jailbreak requires on iPhone 3GS models. This is believed to be the case due to a video last month showing an iPhone OS device not requiring tethered boot. [Read more…]

Apple iPad doing well in web browser share

Wired have reported that 26 percent of their mobile traffic comes from Apple iPad users. The numbers used on the chart were recorded from April 3 to April 19 and are broken down to iPhone/iPad, iPad and others.

Wired also comment that the sharp incline of iPad users also is followed by the same decline in iPhone and iPod touch users indicating that many users who own an iPhone/iPod now also own an iPad and have ditched the mobile for browsing on the iPad.

Looking at the Gadget Venue numbers, we don’t quite see the same 26% of mobile users on iPad but we do see 18% which is still impressive for such a new device. [Read more…]

Apple iPad 3G Orders begin Processing

Yesterday we noticed that the Apple iPad 3G had slipped to May 7, but from a comment received we heard that those who pre-ordered were going to be getting them. This appears to have been confirmed by the above image showing $887.03 pending on someone’s bank account taken by Apple.

We know it’s not “ground breaking news” by any means, but with the Apple site showing “Late April” with no specific date for the majority of this month and then suddenly May 7, it did add to a bit of confusion as to when those with pre-orders were to receive them. [Read more…]

Apple iPad to get OLED Screens in 2nd Gen – Rumour

Digitimes have found some leaked information regarding the second generation Apple iPad that is expected to launch next year.

This time they are saying that next years iPad launch will see the device getting an OLED screen. The rumour also claims that Apple [AAPL] are already working on the design of the next generation iPad. We hear that the screen to be used in the device will be the same as that “rumoured” to be used in the next generation iPhone, aka iPhone 4G or iPhone HD.

The problem right now with OLED is the high costs of manufacturing the units. When comparing the costs of an LCD panel to that of an OLED panel the price jumps up (for a 9.7 inch display) from 60 – 70 USD all the way up to $500 making them quite expensive for now. [Read more…]

We’ll keep an eye open and update the post as we find out more.

If you remember, the launch date was supposed to be late April for the iPad 3G, but due to a successful launch and short supplies of stock, the 3G got delayed slightly and also all international launches were delayed a month.

The up side is that the UK, Canada and several other countries should still get both the Wifi and 3G iPad models the same day towards the end of May. Pre-orders for international are set for May 10. [Read more…]
