Early reports from analysts indicate that Microsoft [MSFT] only managed to shift 40,000 Windows Phone 7 smartphones on the US launch a few days ago. Microsoft has not commented on the numbers yet. If analysts are correct (which they not always are), this would put sales far behind those of the iPhone and Android based smartphones.
Analysts also hint that some problems could be related to a choice of too many smartphones. Four were available on launch day with even more being launched over the next few weeks. Angry Birds has turned out to be a great product for its creators. For Android devices over 2 million copies were downloaded. We now hear that the iPhone version has seen 10 million downloads. What makes this more impressive is that the 10 million downloads doesn’t include the free versions.
The Sony Ericsson LiveView has found a release date in the UK of November 19. The LiveView is a device with a 1.3 inch screen that connects over Bluetooth to your Android based smartphone. The small device shows you information such as previews of SMS, MMS, email, call and other information.
The image above (and larger below) shows a new tablet device called the LG Pad. The LG Pad has an 8.9 inch screen and from what we understand, it will run the next generation of Android operating systems (perhaps the next-next gen as in Honeycomb).
Starting tomorrow, November 3, T-Mobile in the US will be offering the T-Mobile Comet. The Comet is an Android based mobile phone that falls in to the entry-level category.
Reports are suggesting that the Apple iPad is responsible for 95% of the tablet market at the moment. This comes as no real surprise as so far as its not really had much competition up till now.
