Apple iPad Has 95% Market Share

Reports are suggesting that the Apple iPad is responsible for 95% of the tablet market at the moment. This comes as no real surprise as so far as its not really had much competition up till now.

However, this dramatic lead is expected to shift over the next few months as a bunch of Android tablets are getting launched. The main product to look out for at the moment is the Samsung Galaxy Tab that launched in the UK yesterday and is following soon in the US within the next week or two.

As soon as more Android tablets appear over the next few months it is expected that the market share Apple [AAPL] has enjoyed so far will soon be gone.

SlashGear has the following to say about it…

“The tablet wars are up and running” company director Neil Mawston said, with alternative platforms “trailing in Apple’s wake and they already have much ground to make up.” The analysts estimate Apple sold 4.19 million iPads in Q3 2010, with global tablet sales rising 26-percent – to 4.4m units – but Android market share declining from 2.9- to 2.3-percent in the same period.

So, Android certainly does have a lot of catching up to do. It will certainly be an interesting 2011 where tablets are concerned.

  1. Wow, that’s pretty impressive. 95% of people buy the only product that is actually on sale.
I think that the iPad will still be the leader for the foreseeable future. Well, I do not know what the tablet market share meanings, but I think Apple iPad is deserve it.
I got one just after the release and love it, also using AirDisplay on it makes me realize how touch-unfriendly Redmond’s OS really is. Same can actually be said for any desktop OS, which is why the iPad works; it is a touch based OS. What’s more, with the touch-friendly, watching movies on iPad in the help of iFunia iPad Converter really convinent and amazing, on the go!!!
