LG Optimus 2X To Arrive on T-Mobile in March

Last week, LG announced the new LG Optimus 2X along with details of where it will be launching. The 2X is first starting off in Korea and shortly after will be moving to Asia and Europe. However, there was no mention of the Optimus 2X coming to America.

We now hear that it will indeed be arriving in the US, although the information is from a leaked bit of information from someone who has it “on good authority”. [Read more…]

PlayStation Phone to be Called Xperia Play

Sony Ericsson has filed for a trademark called XPERIA PLAY. This is now believed to be the new name for the Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone that is believed to be launching around February/March of 2011.

The trademark was filed for in the EU, as well as a number of domain names such as Xperiaplay.com/net etc… We also hear that several other trademarks have been filed all following the Xperia naming convention which includes the Xperia Neo, Xperia Duo and Xperia Arc. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Ramping Up Rapidly

Although sales are rumoured to be quite low for the new Windows Phone 7 platform and range of smartphones, the Marketplace seems to be doing quite well in terms of how many apps are available now to purchase.

Graphs indicate that the Windows Phone 7 market place is actually doing quite well in that it’s growing faster than Android’s Market and closely mirrors how the iPhone App Store did in the beginning (as indicated by the red line above). [Read more…]

Nexus S Rooting Encouraged by Google

An interesting article went live at the Android Developers website yesterday called “It’s not “rooting”, it’s openness “. What this is referring to is the ability to customise Android based smartphones as users with rather than forcing them to break in to the device.

The post at Android Developers was inspired by a comment made at Engadget that said “Nexus S has been rooted, let the madness commence!”. A comment then went to say that Android security was bad and that’s why the Nexus S was rooted so quickly. [Read more…]

ViewSonic G Tablet Has No Manufacturing Defect

Yesterday, Staples announced that they were stopping selling the ViewSonic G Tablet due to what they called a “manufacturing defect”. A number of blogs, including ours, spread the news around.

This seems to have caught the attention of ViewSonic who have now issued a press release which doesn’t say there is a hardware defect, but instead simply says that an update is being pushed out over WiFi that will fix a few problems that customers have been seeing. [Read more…]

Sync iTunes via DropBox to Connect Multiple Computers

LifeHacker has created a handy tutorial that allows you to store your iTunes library in the DropBox service. What this does is allow you to sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod to a number of computers without getting any syncing errors or conflicts.

Normally, your iPhone and other iOS devices can only sync to 1 computer running iTunes and when plugging your device in to another machine, files are missing as well as other complications such as when using an iPad, it asks if you want to start from scratch and erase all data from your iPad. FringOut for iPhone Now Ready

Over the weekend, a new version of Fring for iPhone was added to the app store. The new version brings FringOut to the iPhone allowing users to make calls worldwide for a fraction of the cost of regular international calls.

As well as bringing FringOut to the iPhone, the company is also offering a free $5 credit for iPhone users stuck in airports. There’s a procedure to follow where you send a picture of your ticket to Fring via Twitter and when validated, you get free $5 credit to make calls to those you might be missing. [Read more…]

Apple Looking for Four New iOS Map Navigation Experts

Apple [AAPL] last week put up four new job descriptions. The job offerings are all identical and request people to join the iOS development team. Each candidate is to be an expert in navigation software.

A few hints in the text, found here, indicate that Apple is working on some kind of navigation product for iOS based devices as each candidate needs deep knowledge of computational geometry or graph theory as well as experience developing navigation software. [Read more…]

Nokia Windows Phone 7 Smartphone Could Land 2011

We are hearing reports today that indicate that Nokia could be looking at creating a Nokia Windows Phone 7 device, perhaps next year.

Notion Ink Adam Demoed on Video

Over the weekend we received a note from the guys at Android Police letting us know they managed to get hold of a video showing the Notion Ink Adam tablet.

Two videos have now been uploaded which both show what the Adam is capable of. It is believed the Notion Ink Adam tablet runs Android 2.3 (due to the framework being spotted in the video). The tablet runs the Eden UI as well as a bunch of custom apps. It also has USB ports and a HDMI port. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Stopped to $199.99 at US Cellular

US Cellular has discounted the Galaxy Tab down to $199.99 on some 24 month contracts. This discount follows on from the discounted Galaxy Tab that T-Mobile now offers although the US Cellular price is a little cheaper. Read on before you get too excited about the price drop.

US Cellular has dropped the price of the Galaxy Tab down to just $199.99 although this is after a $100 mail-in rebate. The full discount structure is as follows… $599.99 full price, $300 discount for a 24 month agreement and $100 mail-in rebate taking it down to the $199.99. [Read more…]

Google Nexus S Discounted to £429.99

The Google Nexus S release date is today here in the UK. When the price was first announced, the Nexus S weighed in at £549 which was actually higher than the dollar amount in the US, making it very expensive.

Now that the Nexus S is on sale, we see that Carphone Warehouse has dropped the price down to £429.99 which is a nice saving from the original amount. [Read more…]
