At MWC a few weeks back, we had the chance to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 being announced (device pictured above). We now hear rumors about Samsung releasing an 8.9 inch version that could potentially be called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.
This new model will sit right between the Android 2.2 Galaxy Tab (7 inch model) and the newly announced Android 3.0 Honeycomb Galaxy Tab 10.1. This new model will also run the Android Honeycomb operating system it is believed. Yesterday, rumors began to circle about the iPad 2 launch being delayed till June to match the iPhone 5 release date. The WSJ is now reporting that Apple intend to launch a year after the original iPad (early April) and that the new iPad will be announced as early as next week on March 2nd.
Verizon made a web page that went live in the last few days that specifically said that the Motorola Xoom would not come with Adobe Flash installed. Instead, Flash would follow sometime in the Spring.
About 2 weeks ago, HP announced the first webOS based tablet… the HP TouchPad. After hearing about all the specs and about the new version of webOS that will ship on the device, we were only given a vague release date of sometime in the summer. No pricing was provided.
Hanvon has announced a new tablet device. This particular tablet is called the Hanvon HPad A112. It has a 7 inch screen that shows 800 x 600 pixels and runs Google Android 2.2 Froyo.
Verizon has added a dedicated page to its site showing the Motorola Xoom along with the release date of February 24.
Some sales details have leaked about the number of Verizon iPhone and AT&T iPhones sold over a five day period. The numbers show that the Verizon version of the iPhone was outselling the AT&T model on all days around the time of launch. However, these numbers are said to still be below what Apple and Verizon had predicted.
We’re learning more about the Nokia and Microsoft partnership as days go on. The latest we hear it that Microsoft has given Nokia the ability to customize the OS as much as they like, in that they can completely change the look of it in a similar way to what HTC does with Sense on the Android platform.
It appears that Sony could be following along quite a bit with the PlayStation theme mixed with Android 3.0. Not only has the Xperia Play been announced in the last week, we also hear rumors of a PlayStation Tablet arriving some time this year.
