AT&T Confirm Apple iPhone 4G To Employees – Will Launch June

BGR has a long history of getting things right in terms of getting inside information about new products.

The website today is reporting that the Apple iPhone 4G will be launching in June and not July. Also the information given to them indicates that we would see it earlier in June rather than late June.

The Apple iPhone 4G is expected to be announced at WWDC 2010 on June 7 at the Steve Jobs keynote. With all the leaks that have recently happened, we only really need to know when it will be launched and how much it will cost. If BGR get it right, we could be seeing it shortly after WWDC (if not right away). [Read more…]

Acer Stream Android Smartphone Official

Yesterday we heard a few bits of information about an Android smartphone spotted at the Google I/O event last week. The phone is the Acer Stream where we found out very basic details in that when it launches it will run Android 2.1.

An official announcement has now been made which covers the details of the new smartphone. We learn that the Acer Stream will have a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED display that is capable of showing 1.67 million colours. The contrast ratio of the screen is 2000:1 that allows the screen to be viewed in light conditions. Also with the display being AMOLED it helps increase battery life due to a lower amount of power being taken from the screen.

For connectivity the Acer Stream has 3G+ allowing for 7.2MBps HSDPA download speeds. The wireless feature allows it to connect up to 802.11n networks. Bluetooth is also included on the device. [Read more…]

Steve Ballmer could be on-stage at WWDC 2010

In a couple of weeks time on June 7, the Apple [AAPL] WWDC 2010 will kick off. The event will start with Steve Jobs offering a key note at 10am where we expect to see the Apple iPhone 4G announced along with details of the Apple iPhone OS 4.0 release date. Due to all the iPhone 4G leaks over the past couple of months, a number of people wonder how “groundbreaking” the keynote can be from Jobs due to pretty much everything leaking about the said device.

Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry is predicting that the Microsoft [MSFT] CEO Steve Ballmer could be making a seven minute guest appearance during Steve Jobs keynote. [Read more…]

Apple Passes Microsoft – Becomes more Valuable

Yesterday Apple [AAPL] took over Microsoft [MSFT] in market capitalization. The company sat below Exxon Mobil in terms of US companies. However, things have bounced back the other way today with the data changing constantly throughout the day.

Market capitalization is calculated by multiplying the share price times the number of outstanding shares. It is often used as a public metric of a company’s overall net worth.

Apple shares have been going up recently with them hitting a high of $251. When compared to Microsoft (who’s went down), we can see why Apple is catching up so quick, as well as overtaking. [Read more…]

LaCie Rugged Biometric Fingerprint Safe External Drive Announced

LaCie has created a new rugged portable storage hard drive that adds not only ruggedness on the outside, but increased data security. The new drive has a biometric fingerprint scanner built in. To access the data on the drive the user needs to swipe a finger. If the fingerprint matches, access is allowed. If not, the data stays encrypted.

The encryption used on the rugged hard drive is 128-bit AES hardware based encryption that uses the finger print reader to decrypt the data.

The physical side of things show that the drive uses a military grade shock proof enclosure to allow the unit to take a bit of a beating while still preserving the data safely. When we say it can take a beating, we mean it can be dropped or hit with something hard without compromising what is stored within. [Read more…]

Google TV Ad Skipping Not Possible

Google [GOOG] announced Google TV last week at the I/O event. At the event we learned what the service allowed users to either use a Google TV, or get a companion box to bring the Google TV services to the screen. The system is designed to make it easier for the user/viewer to watch the program they want, when they want.

With the service being provided by Google it comes as no surprise that the company will be putting ads on the system to get revenue back. We have already learned that advertisers think this is the future due to the ads being more interactive and more engaging.

We just learned today from the Google TV product manager Rishi Chandra that viewing ads will be mandatory. It will not be possible to skip past ads on the Google TV platform. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 on Samsung Prototype Spotted

Back in March a Samsung Omnia HD was seen showing off the newly announced Windows Phone 7.

The same device was spotted at the Microsoft ReMIX event where MobileTechWorld were allowed to get some hands-on time with the prototype smartphone. Just to clarify a few things first though, the Samsung Omnia HD will unlikely be used to run Windows Phone 7 when the OS launches later this year. This specific device is a modified unit that runs a Qualcomm SnapDragon chipset rather than the TI OMAP 3430 that is normally found in this unit.

Either way, the 1GHz Snapdragon runs Windows Phone 7 very smoothly with the MobileTechWorld going on to say that the experience offered by the Omnia HD was as good as what the Apple iPhone can do in that it’s very smooth and no lag at all. [Read more…]

Give Your HTC HD2 Battery Cover a Chrome Look

Check out this cool tutorial over on the Whitesites Blog that shows you how to polish the battery cover of your HTC HD2 and give it a chrome look. The results are a lot better than I thought they would be with the back cover turning in to a mirror.

The cover it’s self is made of metal and has etching on it as well as being painted to match the rest of the HD2. The tutorial shows how you can sand that paint off and restore the chrome look. [Read more…]

i-Got-Control iPhone Universal Remote Control

i-Got-Control is a universal remote control designed for the Apple iPhone. Apple [AAPL] recently allowed the dock connector to be used by 3rd party applications and in doing this, it allowed the iPhone remote control to be built.

The i-Got-Control is a device that plugs in to the dock connector on the iPhone and allows users to control their TV, DVD, BluRay player and many other gadgets from the screen of their iPhone.

The application that is used with the dock connector comes with many devices programmed in. If yours isn’t one of them then a few simple taps on the screen and button pushes on the other remote control allows the software to quickly learn how to communicate with your HDTV for example. [Read more…]
