iOS 6 now on 15% of devices within first 24 hours

The benefits of having just 1 brand of phone using an OS is that the adoption rate is far quicker. Take the iPhone for example, when a new version of the software is made available it generally works on the last 3 or 4 generations of devices and can be installed at the same time. Previously this had to be done with a wire connecting up to iTunes, but since iOS 5 it has been possible to update over the air. This is why iOS 6 is now on 15% of devices within the first 24 hours of release.

Compare the graph below to that of Android OS updates, we can see that Jelly Bean is only available on 1.5% of devices after about 2 months. That is because there are so many Android devices running the operating system that are either not compatible, or awaiting carriers to modify, build and push a new update out.

Here is a graph showing the adoption rate of iOS 6 (created by Chitika):

ChargeCard Kickstarter project triples its goal with time to spare

Although we didn’t cover the ChargeCard project on KickStarter when it first appears on July 18th… not sure why as it looks amazing! Impressive numbers! That amount of cash puts them in the top 50 of all KickStarter projects ever funded.

Evernote has a few tricks up its sleeve at the moment. They already announced Evernote Business at a conference and also at that same conference they also announced Smartbooks in a partnership with Moleskine.

For those of you unaware of what Moleskine does, the company makes notebooks (the real paper type and not electronic type). The notebooks are used by a good number of people due to the high quality build.

Evernote of course is aiming to get rid of paper although Phil Libin himself (CEO of Evernote) commented that he still uses paper to take some notes.

iPad mini rumours heat up thanks to request for more iPad display space

Here in Europe, premium Apple resellers have been asked to provide more display space for the iPad. The request mentions that this work should be complete by September 12. Apple Insider hint that this could mean that the iPad mini will be announced on September 12 and have displays ready for it the same day. Although I’m a little sceptical of an iPad mini launch in September, I can see why Apple would want more space dedicated for a new device.

iPad mini expected to have smaller side bezels

More rumours about the iPad mini continue to surface. The latest is that the side bezels (when held in portrait) will be thinner, similar to the iPhone and iPod touch. This will make the device look more like a large iPod touch than an iPad although we believe it will still be classed as an iPad mini.
