ALK Technologies were demonstrating their latest version of CoPilot Live 8 at CES running on the iPhone, Google Nexus One and a Dell Inspiron 1110 Netbook. Version 8 of the software has been available for several months now, but on display they were showing what they are capable of including what systems they support.
CoPilot Live 8 stores map data on the memory card of your phone meaning that you do not need to rely on a data connection for it to function. At CES, Kodak had their Kodak PlaySport Zx3 camcorder on show that is capable of capturing HD video at 1080p. The camera is similar to the Zi8 and has many of the same features but now with added ruggedness as well as being waterproof up to 3 meters.
Sony have launched two more notebooks called the VAIO F and VAIO Z series. This comes alongside the announcement of the
Sony have introduced a new notebook called the Sony VAIO Y Series. The Y Series VAIO features an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor running at 1.3GHz. It runs the Windows 7 Home Professional 64-bit operating system. The screen measures 13.3 inches and is backlit by LED. The LED screen is capable of showing a 1366 x 768 pixel image. For memory it has 4GB of RAM and for storage a 500GB hard drive.
Sony have launched new portable cameras called the MHS-CM5 and the MHS-PM5. The MHS-CM5 is pictured above and features a pistol grip with a swivel out 2.5 inch LCD screen. The camera is capable of HD video and has 5x optical zoom. The HD side of things on both cameras allows it to capture video in full HD 1080p at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Each camera has face detection and can be charged via USB.
The 3M MPro150 Pico Projector is an update to the previous MPro120 model that was launched a few months ago.
Acer are launching a new range of notebooks that utilise the Intel Core i3 and i5 Arrandale processors. As well as offering the latest Intel processors the notebooks have optional HD graphics and Blu-ray.
At CES, Samsung unveiled a laptop that has a transparent OLED screen that can let up to 40% light through it from the background. Although it might not be fully practical in a laptop design a transparent OLED screen has applications elsewhere such as being embedded on to the wind-shield of your car allowing navigation to be overlayed on to the road ahead.
Amazon have announced the Kindle DX will be shipping with Global Wireless enabled allowing it to function in over 100 countries. The new version of the Kindle DX will start shipping on January 19 at a cost of $489.
Light Blue Optics have created a new interactive projector called Light Touch that can turn any surface in to an interactive touch-screen.
AirStash is a wireless device that allows you to keep a wireless flash drive in your pocket for expanding the memory of gadgets such as iPhones and iPod Touch’s. The device looks similar to a large flash drive and has a USB connector on one side as well as an SD card slot on the other.
BGR have posted a rumour/unconfirmed information about the Google Nexus One being made available unlocked on the AT&T network. The AT&T version will be 3G compatible. The person who provided the information to BGR also said that it will be a second unlocked model with T-Mobile still having the unsusidized version although I assume both types of phone will be sold on the Google site as
