Sony have launched new portable cameras called the MHS-CM5 and the MHS-PM5. The MHS-CM5 is pictured above and features a pistol grip with a swivel out 2.5 inch LCD screen. The camera is capable of HD video and has 5x optical zoom. The HD side of things on both cameras allows it to capture video in full HD 1080p at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Each camera has face detection and can be charged via USB.
Each camera takes Memory Stick Pro Duo cards along with SD and SDHC media where you can store captured video to be easily transferred to your computer.
The more light weight MHS-PM5 is more compact than the other camera and features a 2.4 inch LCD screen. This particular camera is capable of 4x digital zoom (vs the 5x Optical zoom of the CM5), and can capture in HD also.
No details of launch dates and prices are known just yet although I’d expect to see them in the next month or two.
