HP has finally announced the HP Slate 500 tablet. The announcement comes months, actually almost a year, after the HP Slate was first unveiled in January of this year.
The HP Slate 500 runs an Intel Atom processor and uses Windows 7 as the operating system. The tablet its self is actually aimed at business and enterprise users although there is no restriction on who can buy one. It has a price tag of $799.
For technical specs it has a 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor. 2GB of RAM can be found inside along with a 64GB SSD for storage. A Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator is also included allowing it to take care of 1080p HD video content. [Read more…]
Today at the Apple Back to the Mac event, Apple [AAPL] announced iLife 11. This new version costs $49 for those buying it now, or comes free for those who buy a Mac from today onwards.
Its been around 3 years since Google introduced their cloud-based presentation programs via ‘Google Docs’ for around $50 per user, per year. Now in 2010, Microsoft have launched their own could-based service known as ‘Microsoft Office 365’ which will come head to head against Google’s service.
Archos looks set to be launching another new Android based tablet. This time the tablet will be called the Archos 70 and will run the Android 2.2 operating system. The tablet has a 7 inch screen that has a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels.

KDDI over in Japan is doing a hardware refresh on certain lines. One of the devices getting a hardware refresh is the yet to be released Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Galaxy Tab on the KDDI network will look different in that it will have no branding from Samsung on it and 3G will be removed from the device.
The HTC Gratia was revealed earlier today. The Gratia is an Android based smartphone. It has a 3.2 inch screen that is in a HVGA format. It has a 600MHz Qualcomm processor and can connect to HSPA and WCDMA networks running at 900 and 2100.
The Advent Vega is an Android 2.2 tablet that will begin to ship in the UK on October 18th. The tablet specs were put online at Modaco and the tablet will be launched by PC World and Currys with a price tag of £249.
At a Beijing exhibition, the Chinese manufacturer ZTE (global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions) have just announced the release of their new touch screen tablet PC and iPad competitor, the new ZTE Light.
