HP Slate 500 Announced

HP has finally announced the HP Slate 500 tablet. The announcement comes months, actually almost a year, after the HP Slate was first unveiled in January of this year.

The HP Slate 500 runs an Intel Atom processor and uses Windows 7 as the operating system. The tablet its self is actually aimed at business and enterprise users although there is no restriction on who can buy one. It has a price tag of $799.

For technical specs it has a 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor. 2GB of RAM can be found inside along with a 64GB SSD for storage. A Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator is also included allowing it to take care of 1080p HD video content. [Read more…]

iLife 11 for Mac Announced

Today at the Apple Back to the Mac event, Apple [AAPL] announced iLife 11. This new version costs $49 for those buying it now, or comes free for those who buy a Mac from today onwards.

New features of iLife 11 include a new version of iPhoto (version 11) that brings the app to full screen mode on the Mac. New features show that the software can email photos, themes, and more easily integrate with Facebook and Flickr. Books can more easily be created with this new version as well as letterpress photo cards. 12 new themes are also included allowing you to make better slideshows for your pictures in full screen. New Competitor For Google Docs As Microsoft Launches Office 365

Archos 70 7 Inch Android Tablet

Archos looks set to be launching another new Android based tablet. This time the tablet will be called the Archos 70 and will run the Android 2.2 operating system. The tablet has a 7 inch screen that has a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels.

The processor inside runs at 1GHz and is a Cortex A8 processor that also utilises a graphics accelerator. [Read more…]

Palm webOS 2.0 and Pre 2 Officially Announced

HP has finally unveiled the Palm Pre 2 as well as WebOS 2.0 today.

The Palm Pre 2 is the first device that will be shipped with WebOS 2.0. The new version of webOS 2.0 includes multitasking, stacks, HP Synergy as well as a number of other new features to make devices that run it, easier to use. [Read more…]

New iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 Hit Testing Stage

BGR has heard a couple of interesting things recently that indicate a second model of the iPhone 4 has just hit AP testing while the iPhone 5 has supposedly hit the EVT stage. We’ll explain in a moment what that means.

The new iPhone 4 is codenamed 3,2 and is believed to be a CDMA version of the phone that will allow it to land on networks such as Verizon [VZ]. The AP stage is the very last stage of testing before a product goes to the manufacturer ready for release.

BGR point out 3 scenarios which reveal that the phone could be compatible with all networks and include a SIM card. The next scenario is that the phone isn’t CDMA at all, but instead is a hardware variation (perhaps to secure potential jailbreak holes) but also fix the antenna issue that some users reposted (OK, many users). The final scenario is relating to CDMA again but this time it has a SIM slot to be compatible with roaming in other countries. This last stage doesn’t seem like an Apple sort of thing to do. Samsung Galaxy Tab up for Pre-Order in UK

Carphone warehouse in the UK has made the Samsung Galaxy Tab available for pre-order. The Galaxy Tab release date it November 1st and price wise, the tablet will cost you either £529.99 stand alone or £499.99/ on a 30 day rolling contract costing £10/month.

The standalone price tag of £529.99 actually matches the same sized 16GB iPad with WiFi and 3G making it an attractive offer. The device its self runs Android 2.2, has a 7 inch WVGA super AMOLED screen and is capable of playing flash 10.1 content. [Read more…]

KDDI Redesign Samsung Galaxy Tab and Remove 3G

KDDI over in Japan is doing a hardware refresh on certain lines. One of the devices getting a hardware refresh is the yet to be released Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Galaxy Tab on the KDDI network will look different in that it will have no branding from Samsung on it and 3G will be removed from the device.

As well as removing the branding and 3G aspects of the device, a few cosmetic changes will also be made to the hardware which includes the 4 buttons below the screen being rotated to align correctly when the device is held in landscape mode. [Read more…]

HTC Gratia Android Smartphone Unveiled

The HTC Gratia was revealed earlier today. The Gratia is an Android based smartphone. It has a 3.2 inch screen that is in a HVGA format. It has a 600MHz Qualcomm processor and can connect to HSPA and WCDMA networks running at 900 and 2100.

It is believed that the HTC Gratia is a European version of the HTC Aria as it looks similar in design and specs. Other features of the new Android smartphone include Android 2.2 as well as a 5 megapixel camera. The Android 2.2 is also modified with HTC Sense. [Read more…]

Advent Vega Android 2.2 Tablet

The Advent Vega is an Android 2.2 tablet that will begin to ship in the UK on October 18th. The tablet specs were put online at Modaco and the tablet will be launched by PC World and Currys with a price tag of £249.

The technical specs of the Advent Vega Tablet show that it runs an NVIDIA T20 Tegra 2 chip inside. It is clocked at 1GHz. RAM and ROM are 512MB each and the included micro SD card has a capacity of 4GB. [Read more…]

CDMA iPhone 4 Might go to India – Exclusivity in Germany and Holland Ends

As we get closer to the new year, we are hearing even more rumours about the possibilities of a CDMA iPhone 4 launching. This time the rumours indicate that India could get the new device early next year.

We also hear today that Germany and Holland will not have an exclusive carrier any more shortly as Deutsche Telekom has lost its exclusivity on the iPhone which has now opened up to Vodafone and O2 being able to sell the phone in the next few months. [Read more…]
