O2 in the UK will be selling an exclusive White version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play when it launches in the next couple of months.

Other than being in White, all the specs and finer details are exactly the same such as it running a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, along with a high res screen that can show 480 x 854 pixels. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 5 to Get Improved Battery Life

The next generation iPhone, iPad and iPod touch could see a boost in battery life, thanks to some work being done by Apple. The company has filed a patent to which they describe a battery with a higher cell density. The patent is entitled “Increasing Energy Density in Rechargeable Lithium Battery Cells” and attempts to slightly alter how the battery works. [Read more…]

Nokia to Give Developers free WP7 Device

Nokia has sent out an email to members of the Launchpad, letting them know that they will be getting a free E7 and a Windows Phone 7 device when available.

Launchpad is Nokia’s mobile app development program that normally has a price tag of 300 per year. It’s actually free for the first year. Nokia need to approve companies and developers in to the program and once there, when the devices are available, they’ll be shipped out. [Read more…]

LG Optimus 3D Gets Priced in UK: Ready for Pre Order

Over in the UK, Expansys now has the LG Optimus 3D available for preorder. Expansys is selling the SIM free version which carries a price tag of £514.99.

Motorola Xoom Coming to Major UK Retailers

The Motorola Xoom is launching in the UK in the second quarter of this year. We now learn that major retailers will be selling the new Android 3.0 tablet when it launches.

Verizon iPhone 4 Sales Data Leaked

Some sales details have leaked about the number of Verizon iPhone and AT&T iPhones sold over a five day period. The numbers show that the Verizon version of the iPhone was outselling the AT&T model on all days around the time of launch. However, these numbers are said to still be below what Apple and Verizon had predicted.

The numbers were found by BGR and are as follows:

– Thursday: Verizon = 909, AT&T = 539
– Friday: Verizon = 916, AT&T = 680
– Saturday: Verizon = 660, AT&T = 471
– Sunday: Verizon = 796, AT&T = 701

Nokia Allowed to Customize Windows Phone 7 Experience

We’re learning more about the Nokia and Microsoft partnership as days go on. The latest we hear it that Microsoft has given Nokia the ability to customize the OS as much as they like, in that they can completely change the look of it in a similar way to what HTC does with Sense on the Android platform.

However, it appears that Nokia wont be doing much customization and instead, will be keeping the changes to a minimum from what they say. In doing this, it will allow new updates to be rolled out quickly rather than delaying them due to too many modifications. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 Connect App Launched – Syncs With iTunes on Mac

Microsoft has launched a new app in the Mac App Store called Windows Phone 7 Connector. The latest update now allows connection of a WP7 smartphone to the Mac so that it can sync with an iTunes library.

As well as being able to sync music, photos can also be syncronised along with video from the iPhoto App on Mac computers. [Read more…]

Android Ice Cream Smartphones Leaked in Dell Roadmap

The roadmap for smartphones built by Dell has leaked, thanks to WPCentral.

Differences Between CDMA and GSM iPhone Call Settings Detailed

Although there aren’t many differences between the iPhone on Verizon when compared to the AT&T GSM model, there are a few subtle differences in how they work.

The first is quite a major difference in that conference calls are restricted to just 3 people on the Verizon model. This number includes your self. For business users, this could kill the deal as oft times, they need to talk to multiple people. Also, the Verizon iPhone doesn’t allow you to break off to private calls like the AT&T model does. When using the Verizon model you are either conferenced to someone else, or you hang up on someone else. AT&T gives the option to separate calls and hangup on 1 person at a time. [Read more…]

Sony S1 PlayStation Tablet Details

It appears that Sony could be following along quite a bit with the PlayStation theme mixed with Android 3.0. Not only has the Xperia Play been announced in the last week, we also hear rumors of a PlayStation Tablet arriving some time this year.

The details were detailed by Engadget and indicate that the screen will measure 9.4 inches and that the tablet will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb when it launches. We also hear that it will be “PlayStation Certified” which will turn the tablet in to a fully fledged games machine. [Read more…]

Acer ICONIA TAB A500 Android 3.0 Tablet Unveiled

We’ve seen many Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets being unveiled this week and if you thought that would be the end of it for a while, then think again as there are still many more to come. The next to be announced is the Acer ICONIA TAB A500. The ICONIA TAB is another Android 3.0 Honeycomb device that will launch in the coming months.

Acer has given the A500 a 10.1 inch screen. The screen of course, is capacitive, allowing easy interaction with the Honeycomb operating system. The touch panel is also multi-touch allowing for pinch/zoom. Other features include it being 1080p compatible with the video stream being output via the HDMI connector. [Read more…]
