Sony has announced a new official app for iPhone and Android based smartphones. The app is the official PlayStation App and has been designed to bring a number of PlayStation Network features to the smartphone.

Hitachi 7mm-thick Hard Drive Capacity Increased to 500GB

Hitachi has launched a new hard drive that measures 7mm in thickness and manages to cram 500GB of storage on to the disk inside.

The new drive is a 2.5 inch model and has a spin speed of 5400RPM. The disk is a single platter, which you’d expect on a device this thin. [Read more…]

HTC Aria Android 2.2 Update Incoming

The HTC Aria Android 2.2 update is beginning to roll out. Unfortunately it’s not for those of you on the AT&T [T] network in the US. Instead, the HTC support page in Southeast Asia mentions that Android 2.2 is being pushed out over in that region in the form of build 2.37.708.5.

That version is Android 2.2 (Froyo) and is also believed to include HTC Sense, tethering and improved enterprise support amongst other things. [Read more…]

Flipboard for iPad Updated

Flipboard for iPad has received an update today. The latest version brings a bunch of new features to the social news reader app.

The new version is numbered 1.1 and allows you to now sync Google Reader to it which in turn, lets you browse through your combined feeds in one in a handy and readable format. Flickr is also available now and the updated app lets you browse more easily through pictures stored in the web service. [Read more…]

Gawker Comment Hack Prompts Yahoo and Others To Reset Passwords

Several days ago, Gawker’s comment boards were hacked and a number of usernames and passwords stolen. Due to the size of the Gawker network which includes sites such as Gizmodo and LifeHacker, it has prompted a number of web companies to reset passwords of users they think were effected by the attack.

Yahoo!, Flickr and LinkedIn were amongst the first to reset passwords of users and we hear that Blizzard (world of warcraft boards) also reset a number of passwords. We also believe that Amazon has also followed along here. [Read more…]

The Dell Streak is currently available at Best Buy for $99.99. The offer is limited it seems and just for the holiday season. You also need to sign up for a two year agreement to get it at the new low price.

Windows Phone 7 Major Update Could be Late 2011

Although we should see a couple of Windows Phone 7 updates arrive over the next 2 months, one of which will bring the much anticipated copy & paste functions to the device, we also hear that a major update is being built although the release date of that update is expected to be sometime in August or September of 2011.

This major update due towards the end of next year is believed to be codenamed Mango and will precede the Windows Phone 8 update slated for a late 2012 launch. We could perhaps look at Windows Phone 7 as being Windows Phone 7.5. [Read more…]

Verizon iPhone 4 Could be Announced at CES

BGR had some interesting thoughts in an article published today. They are hinting at the AT&T [T] iPhone exclusivity ending within the next few weeks, ie 31st December this year. They then go on to suggest that Verizon [VZ], who is taking the stage at CES 2011 in early January could invite Steve Jobs on to stage to announce the Verizon iPhone 4.

Verizon will actually be announcing its 4G network (well, LTE as it’s not really 4G), at CES which makes the likely hood of Steve Jobs joining them on stage a little less of a possibility as we assume the iPhone 4 will not be compatible with Verizon’s new network unless it has some fancy chipset inside. Social Artworks is a service available for Facebook users that lets you print a collage of profile pictures of all your friends. As each person on Facebook has a different variety of friends, no two pictures will ever be exactly the same making Social Artworks all unique.

There’s a number of options available when buying a collage from Social Artworks which includes a small poster that measures 16 x 10 inches, on to medium at 24 x 16 inches and then on to large which is printed on a sheet measuring 36 x 24 inches. [Read more…]

Three Unlimited Data Plans Roll Out

Three in the UK has announced that they are scrapping data limits on the Three One Plan. The service is described by Three as being a truly unlimited data plan that has no hidden fair usage limits. Instead, you just use what you want from what we understand.

The One Plan has a price tag of £25/month and with that you get 2000 minutes, 5000 texts as well and up till now, 1GB of data of which the limit has been taken away. [Read more…]

Microsoft Windows Update Record Set – 17 Bulletins, 40 Vulnerabilities

Microsoft [MSFT] has set a new record this patch Tuesday when it sent out 17 security bulletins that tackled 40 vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system and related software (such as Office).

This is the third time this year that a record has been set. The Windows Update patches in October 2010 had 16 bulletins accompanying them althoughthere were 49 actual vulnerabilities addressed at that time. [Read more…]

O2 Android 2.2 Update for Dell Streak Coming This Week

The Dell Streak Android 2.2 update has been appearing across various networks over the last few weeks. We now hear that for those with a Dell Streak on the O2 network, you’ll be getting the update by the end of this week. No specific day has been provided though.
