Sony has announced a new official app for iPhone and Android based smartphones. The app is the official PlayStation App and has been designed to bring a number of PlayStation Network features to the smartphone.
When the app launches, you’ll be able to download it for free and once installed, check your PlayStation Network trophies as well as being able to keep up with friends games and online achievements.

* Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
* Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
* Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.
Version 1.0 will be launching soon and will be compatible with the iPhone running iOS 4 and most Android phones running Android 1.6+. As for availability, those in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands will all be able to use the service. For those in other countries, a new update is already in the works and will be available shortly after launch.
