HTC Flyer Goes up for Pre-Order in the UK – £600

Clove has announced that it will be launching the HTC Flyer in mid April and that it has the tablet available for pre-order right now. Pricing is confirmed at £600.00 inc VAT in the UK although this is likely to change once official pricing is announced. Clove comment that all pricing for pre-orders are updated once confirmed and once stock is ready to be shipped out.

The specs, which we have seen before, are showing the Flyer to have a 7 inch screen. The screen uses the HTC Scribe Technology allowing you to write on the screen and have the text read. The operating system is a step between Android 2.3 and 3.0 and is version 2.4. It brings some 3.0 Honeycomb features to a slightly smaller display. [Read more…]

iPhone Clock Breaks Again with DST Switch

Each time the clocks change in preparation for the summer, it seems that iOS devices have problems with making the change. Last time, alarms broke and this time it seems the clocks are switching an hour in the wrong direction.

This time each year, clocks move forwards an hour in the US (followed by the UK and other places shortly after). A quick search on Twitter reveals that this wasn’t the case though for a number of iPhone users who have essentially posted on twitter wondering why they woke up a couple of hours later than expected. Next Gen iPhone Will Not Include NFC Technology

Although we have seen patents going back as far as last year from Apple about integrating NFC in to an iPhone in the future, we learn today from The Independent, that Apple [AAPL] will not be including NFC technology in the iPhone 5 (perhaps 4S as it could be called).

With Google including NFC in the Nexus S and Orange confirming that NFC will be made available in a number of smartphones this year, it was expected that Apple would also introduce it and really make a push forwards with the technology. [Read more…]

Sony CyberShot with 3G Connection Rumored

We received info today hinting that Sony could be looking at introducing 3G connectivity in to a new CyberShot camera. In doing so, it would allow the camera to be cloud based so to speak. The 3G enabled CyberShot digital camera would work in a similar way to how a camera with an Eye-fi card works in that pictures are captured and then transmitted to an online storage area such as Flickr or an FTP account. By bundling in a 3G connection in the camera, it bypassed the need to be in a WiFi enabled area and thus, becomes a lot more convenient.

We also hear that the 3G connection could be free to use, much like the Amazon Kindle uses for downloading books. For those who are light users, they wouldn’t need to pay, but for those who are pro users, a small charge maybe required. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Pro Demoed by Three

This morning, the Three UK network Blog posted a video demonstration of the new Samsung Galaxy Pro smartphone that will soon be launching on its network.

The technical specs show that it has a 2.8 inch screen which is capacitive touch. The screen takes up about half of the screen unlike the regular Samsung Galaxy which covers the whole front panel. This is of course, because of the QWERTY keyboard that takes up the bottom side of the device. [Read more…]

PS3 Comes to iPad, iPhone and iPod touch with everyAir

pandaelf Labs has created a system that allows PS3 games to be played on any iOS device which includes iPad, iPhone and the iPod touch.

The system isn’t self contained in that you actually play the PS3 games that are stored on the device. Rather, you are connecting up to a PS3, PC and various other bits of hardware so that you use the iOS device as an interface.

The process is that the capture device streams live video from the PS3 to a computer. You then connect everyAir on iOS to the computer and with a few tweaks to the hardware, the interpreter knows what buttons you’ve pressed on the screen, sends them to the PS3 which then streams the appropriate video content back through the PC. iPad 2 Coming Orange and T-Mobile UK

Everything Everywhere, AKA Orange and T-Mobile in the UK, has announced on Twitter that they will be selling the iPad 2 when it launches later this month. If the company follows along with the official release date, we should see subsidized versions landing on March 25 in the UK.

No details of pricing have been revealed yet, partly because Apple [AAPL] hasn’t released UK pricing just yet. We expect that the new tablet will be priced similarly to what the original iPad was which was £199 with a two year contract. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Smart Covers Announced

Along with the launch of the iPad 2, Apple also unveiled the Smart Cover. The cover is different to a case in that it doesn’t wrap around the whole device. Instead, it uses magnets to attach on to the front of the device to keep the screen free from being knocked.

The magnets used are self aligning which means when you attach it, it always sits in the right place. The cover also controls switching the device on and off if needed. When you open the case, the screen enables. [Read more…]
