Just last week, Apple [AAPL] launched Aperture 3 in their online store. We are now hearing reports of the application eating up whole hard drives… ie, the software has some sort of memory leak that is eating in to virtual memory that fills up the hard drive.
The problem as far as we have heard isn’t universal, in that not everybody is seeing the problems. However, a good number of users are reporting issues with importing photo libraries and then returning to crashed Mac’s or disk space warning errors.
As everybody isn’t seeing the error message, it could point to a number of things such as a conflict with another application or perhaps there is some particular hardware that Aperture doesn’t like. [Read more…]
Windows Phone 7 Series has been officially announced at MWC today. The new operating system was designed to “re-invent” how phones actually operate and how the UI functions. In the past a lot of phones tend to try function like a PC. Microsoft’s [MSFT] new approach is that the phone is more intimate than a PC, and should have a new user interface.
We have been noticing occasionally that devices that launch with USB ports, ie, laptops, netbooks, motherboards etc… have started getting USB 3.0 ports included. Buffalo are now about to launch the worlds first 4 port USB 3.0 hub.
The ASUS Eee T101MT has been unveiled and when launched, will come supplied with an Intel Atom N450 processor (AKA – a Pine Trail chip). By using the latest Intel Atom N450 chip it can achieve longer battery life and run a tad quicker too than previous models.
Symbian^3 has been unveiled today by the Symbian Foundation. The Symbian^3 platform is the first fully open source release since their switch to open source earlier this month.

Samsung have launched their new 3D HDTV and it’s ready for pre-order now. Three versions of the TV are being made available to purchase which includes three Samsung C70000 models each of which have a built-in 3D processor. The three screens measure 40 inches, 46 inches or 55 inches depending on which model you purchase.
Researches over in Japan have managed to successfully shrink down the traditional makings of an SSD (solid state drive) so small that 1TB of data could be stored on a device the size of a postage stamp. The company claims to have developed technology that shrinks the traditional sized SSD’s down by 90% making them ultra small. As well as shrinking the physical size down to near nothing, the chip also has energy efficiency boosted by 70%.
HP have built their latest netbook device that actually is a smartbook crammed in to a netbook if that makes sense. The device is called the Compaq AirLife 100 and it runs the Android OS, is powered by a Snapdragon processor (rumoured) and uses an SSD for storage.
BGR managed to get hold of some details related to the launch dates of the Motorola Devour. The Devour will be launching on February 25th on indirect channels at authorised distributors and the following month on March 15th to all channels. Pricing in this instance is not known due to Verizon (who will be the carrier) not listing prices on the leaked documents.

Panasonic have announced a new rugged tablet called the Toughbook H1 Field. The press release describes the H1 as being the most rugged handheld tablet in the world. The H1 tablet is certified to reach both IP65 and MIL-STD-810G standards which allows it to handle drops of up to six feet.
