Apple iPhone Virtual Keypad – User gets 83 Words Per Minute

If you thought a physical keyboard was the only way to tap out a text message on a phone then think again.

Youtube user konceptzoflife successfully managed to tap out a message at an impressive 83 words per minute which is quite amazing if you ask me. The test was done on an Apple iPhone running some software called iTextSpeed to put the words on the page which are then typed in as fast as possible. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee T101MT gets a Full Review

Back towards the end of February we came across a review of the ASUS T101MT netbook tablet that although was excellent, it had quite a bad bug in that the top inch or so of the screen just didn’t respond to touch correctly with the accuracy being way out. Another model has since shipped since the pre-production review unit and we now hear that all is actually working perfect which is good to hear.

The ASUS T101MT is an Intel Atom N450 tablet device that runs at 1.66GHz. For graphics it has an on-board Intel GMA 3150 graphics chip. The T101MT comes with 2GB of RAM installed and for storage it has a 320GB hard drive which is complimented by ASUS’ online EEE storage giving another several hundred GB of storage space. JooJoo Tablet hits the FTC

The FCC has taken a look at the JooJoo tablet and as well as giving it a thorough check over to make sure it complies with certain standards, they also have a picture of the inside as well as the details of what powers the device.

Just yesterday we heard about the JooJoo tablet getting a user interface makeover making it look a little bit more attractive to use. This new user interface mixed with the revealed hardware specs make it appear to be quite an impressive machine.

The JooJoo runs an NVIDIA Ion along with an Intel Atom N270 CPU. We also hear there is integrated 3G built in which was contrary to reports heard before. The worrying thing is that the JooJoo appears to run standard hardware and if not optimised just right, we could see that NVIDIA Ion chip suck a lot of power out of the battery making it a lot lower than it’s main competitor the Apple iPad (which just became available for pre-order in the last hour). Sony Ultra Compact DSLR Concept – LCD Menu Screenshots

Mid February, Sony unveiled a concept camera that is set to be a Micro Four Thirds DSLR using a mirrorless interchangeable lens system with an APS-C sensor.

Apart from showing off the concept camera casing and lens last month, Sony haven’t really said much about it. We received some pictures yesterday showing us the new LCD display menu system that the camera will use. The menus appear to be touchscreen.

A few hints at what the Ultra Compact DSLR will offer indicate that a background defocus control can be used to adjust the aperture automatically to get the background to focus/defocus as required in the shot. [Read more…]

Sony have announced their PS3 motion controller that has now officially been named as Playstation Move. Playstation Move was previously called the wand, arc to name a few names.

The announcement came yesterday where it was shown to deliver true 1:1 motion control which Sony claim to be more responsive than the Nintendo Wii Plus. It will be interesting to see how each of them compare when tested with each other.

Games already announced include Little Big Planet as well as SOCOM 4. A few large companies are also looking at building games for the Playstation Move. This includes names like Capcom, EA, Sqaure Enix as well as 33 others which is quite an impressive start. [Read more…]

JooJoo Gets a User Interface Upgrade before Launch

The JooJoo was scheduled to launch a few weeks back originally set for an end of February launch. We then heard it was being pushed to late March. This extra month has given the JooJoo creators a chance to fix issues with the capacitive touchscreen as well as give the user interface a little overhaul.

Previously the user interface looked quite basic with line art covering a solid colour background. The new UI has been spruced up to give the icons a more rendered look along with wall paper that can be customised.

Gestures have also received a few changes with the JooJoo now using a swipe to access the home screen from what was previously a pinch gesture. [Read more…]

Phantom HD Gold High Speed Digital Video Camera

The Phantom HD Gold is a high speed digital video camera that carries a hefty price tag of $118,000 putting it in to the professional end of the market.

The camera has a resolution of 2,048 by 2,048 and at that high resolution it is capable of capturing video at 555 frames per second. Although high speed cameras are available for just a few hundred dollars that can capture at over 1,000 FPS, they certainly can’t do that at anywhere near the 2k by 2k resolution and often tend to drop down to double digit pixels.

This particular camera is also capable of capturing images up to 100,000 frames per second when the resolution is dialled right down to just 16 by 8 pixels. [Read more…]

Various iPad cases are available here. On to the Quirky…

As the Apple iPad launch date draws nearer, more and more accessories are becoming available. The last one we mentioned just a few days ago was the Vers Wood iPad case. Next on the list is a case built by Quirky that is called the Quirky Cloak.

The Quirky Cloak is designed to look sleek and provide enough protection to keep your iPad safe within. It is built from non-slip rubber and has a durable plastic hinge on the edges.

The iPad slides in the top of the casing and once inside is held firmly by a friction grip. The Quirky Cloak is designed in a way that allows the iPad to sit on a surface in landscape mode, or stand up with a kick stand in portrait mode. [Read more…]

Pioneer DreamBook Lite Netbook Launched

There doesn’t seem to be a week pass where a new netbook is announced, especially with the likes of ASUS launching new Eee PC’s every week it seems. Pioneer are now launching their DreamBook Lite which has a 12.1 inch screen and runs either a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor or a slightly faster Intel Atom N470 running at 1.83GHz.

The 12.1 inch screen is LED which we should see benefit from that in terms of a clearer image. For connectivity it has Wireless that can connect up to 802.11b/g/n networks as well as a bunch of ports on the side including USB 2.0 and a wired LAN port.

The DreamBook Lite comes with a 4 cell battery although if you go for the optional 6 cell battery the netbook can achieve about 10 hours of usage between charges. [Read more…]
