iOS 4.3 Release Date Hinted at March 2

iOS 4.3 has hit Golden Master stage which means it’s almost ready for launch. When iOS hits this stage, it is common for the public release to follow about a week after. This changed when iOS 4.2 was released due to some WiFi bugs found late in the game, however, it is normal that GM is finalized code.

With the code being finalized, it will now be ready to launch and rumors are hinting that it could be announced alongside the iPad 2 on March 2nd (Wednesday) next week. For those who like to track these things, the build number should be 8F190. [Read more…]

FaceTime Arrives in Mac App Store

Along with todays 2011 MacBook Pro announcements, Apple has also made FaceTime available at the Mac App Store.

The service is very similar, if not the same as you have already used on the iMac and other Mac computers in that you load it up, login with your Apple ID and password, and then make video calls to other FaceTime devices which includes the iPod touch and iPhone 4. [Read more…]

2011 MacBook Pro Line Updated – Official

Well, it finally happened and not a minute too soon. Apple [AAPL] has announced a new range of MacBook Pro’s for 2011. The new 2011 MacBook Pro range is said to use the next generation processors, graphics as well as use the leaked Thunderbolt I/O technology.

Apple Store Down – As Expected

As expected, Apple [AAPL] has taken down the Apple store in various countries. The store went down this morning and is expected to be down for the next couple of hours.

When the store loads back up, we expect to see details of the new MacBook Pro range included and at a push… a white iPhone 4? We doubt the latter, but the former of the two is certainly expected. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Announcement Rumored for March 2

Yesterday, rumors began to circle about the iPad 2 launch being delayed till June to match the iPhone 5 release date. The WSJ is now reporting that Apple intend to launch a year after the original iPad (early April) and that the new iPad will be announced as early as next week on March 2nd.

If WSJ’s sources are correct (notice sources as in several), then the event will be held in San Francisco. [Read more…]

My Lawyer Android App Launches

Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen, have created a new app for Android called My Lawyer. What this app does is provide on tap assistance for when you find yourself in an accident. It works by telling you exactly what to do in the event of an accident, such as giving details as to what information to collect, what pictures to take and who to call.

MapQuest for Android Now Available

MapQuest is a service I haven’t used for a few years. However, I see they are still in the game in that they have now just released an Android App that is available free for download in the Android Market.

The MapQuest App allows another option for turn-by-turn navigation on Android based devices. Other features include voice search, walking and driving directions, live traffic, voice guided directions and points of interest. [Read more…]

Apple to Bring 3G to Next Gen MacBook Air

There seems to be plenty of rumors floating around today. The next hints at the next gen MacBook Air getting 3G connectivity built in.

Apple Subscriptions Launch at the App Store

As expected, Apple [AAPL] has now launched subscriptions on the App Store. The new subscriptions service allows publishers of content on the app store to set up a regular automated billing cycle of weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, bi-yearly or yearly. The system will use the regular Apple billing system that is already used in the app store. By doing this, it makes it easy for the user to see all subscriptions on a single location and then cancel, edit billing frequency and make other changes when needed.

MORE/REAL Stylus Cap for Capacitive Touch Tablets

The MORE/REAL Stylus cap has been designed to use with devices such as the iPad, iPhone and any other tablet or smartphone with a capacitive touchscreen. The Stylus Cap is a small cap that comes in three versions with one specific for a brand of pen.

The first is compatible with the Sharpie Finepoint, the next caps a Bic Round Stic and the third is the correct size for a Pilot Fineliner.

On the end is a small rubber tip that can pass a small charge to the capacitive touchscreen making the screen detect input from that just like it would detect a finger. [Read more…]

Hitachi 4.5 Inch IPS Display Beats Retina

Hitachi has created a new display that measures 4.5 inches and managed to pack in 1280 x 720 pixels. With the screen size and the amount of pixels on the screen, it has a slightly higher pixel density when compared to the Retina Display that Apple created for the iPhone 4.

The Retina display has a density of 326 pixels per inch while this new Hitachi model crams in 329 per inch. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S2 Specs Leaked Online

The Samsung Galaxy S2 – i9100, is expected to launch next week at MWC. The specs of this particular smartphone have been leaked online and show that it runs a 1.2GHz Samsung Orion processor and has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, also by Samsung from what we understand.

The device, possibly pictured below, will have NFC communications built in. It will run Google Android 2.3 when it launches and we assume this will be updated to the even newer Android 2.3.3 that boosts the NFC capabilities even further. [Read more…]
