Rovio to Add Angry Birds Sync Tool to Popular Game

Angry Birds has been downloaded millions of times, up near 100 million times to be exact. One problem that has always existed with the game is that when you play it on more than 1 device, you need to start the game from the start. For example, you complete 3 worlds on the iPhone version, get a new iPad, download the game and you have to start right from the beginning on your iPad.

This can be frustrating for those avid and casual gamers who want to continue on from where they left off. Thanks to a tweet sent out by Rovio, it seems that a way to sync games might be introduced within the next few months. The system will be called Angry Birds Sync and from what we can gather, it’ll allow you to to sync your progress among a number of platforms so that when you load it up on the iPad, you play from where you left off on your iPhone.

Apple Patent Reveals a Hybrid DisplayPort/USB 3.0 Connector

Apple has won a patent for a new hybrid 30-pin/USB 3.0 connector that could be used for high-speed transfer to and from an iPhone. The connector looks similar to a regular Apple 30-pin connector, but rather than connecting to just a USB 2.0 port, the new one will be capable of connecting to USB 3.0. We also hear that this could include Thunderbolt for high speed data transfers.

Yet this latest hybrid connector looks like a winner and one that we might see come to market later this year in handhelds or in 2012 when Intel Macs debut with USB 3.0. But let’s be honest here: Wouldn’t we all like to see this debut on the iPhone 5? Hmm, I think that I’m hearing a thunderous yes on that question.

iPhone 5 Infographic Puts All the Rumors Together

The iPhone 5 could launch in June this year, although there has been a bit of talk of it not showing up till September of this year. Either way, the iPhone 5 (or 4GS) will eventually arrive and with it, a few tweaks here and there.

The infographic embedded below, shows a number of changes that might happen to the next generation iPhone and also gives a percentage of how likely the change will be made.

Some of the obvious changes include an updated camera, perhaps 8 megapixels on the back. We also hear that the Home Button might be dropped in favor of the multi-touch gestures used on iOS 4.3 (for developers). This is a little less likely due to 4/5 finger gestures being next to impossible on the small screen. We hear a slightly larger screen will be used, perhaps 4 inches. Again, Apple has always used the smaller 3.5 inch screen with the only main difference being the higher pixel density Retina Display on the iPhone 4. [Read more…]

iPhone Dev Team Releases iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak

The iPhone Dev Team has released an iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak today. This new jailbreak works on all devices other than the new iPad 2. This means it’s compatible with the iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch (last 2 gens) and basically anything that runs iOS 4.3.1.

The jailbreak is untethered which is thanks to Stefan Esser who provided the necessary information to the Dev Team to complete the jailbreak. The reason the iPad 2 isn’t compatible is that it isn’t susceptible to the SHAtter or bootrom exploits that are currently available. [Read more…]

Could ASUS Ship a $200 Netbook? Perhaps with the Help of Google!

Although it has never succeeded in getting prices down to $200, we now hear that ASUS are yet again attempting to get the netbook down to the $200 to $250 price point.

ASUS is attempting to drop the price due to competition from the new generation tablets such as the Galaxy Tab, iPad and Motorola Xoom to name a few. Since the launch of the iPad, netbook sales have slowly dropped as people seem to prefer the mobile phone type operating system on a 7 to 10 inch screen for “lazy time browsing”. By pricing a netbook at $200 to $250, it would position the 10 inch netbook at just below the price of regular tablets and in doing this, could help boost sales so that the company hits its 6 million goal this year.
