White iPhone 4 Possibly Canceled

Yesterday, we heard that the White iPhone 4 from Apple [AAPL] was to be further delayed, perhaps till the spring of 2011.

Rumours are now starting about the white iPhone 4 being completely canceled. Although just a rumour, it does make sense as Apple keeps delaying the phone and if it isn’t scheduled till the spring of 2011, it makes sense to just not bother and go ahead and create a white iPhone 5. [Read more…]

iDOS DOS Emulator for iOS Devices

Apple [AAPL] approved a new app yesterday called iDOS. The app lets you run DOS on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Just before getting on to what it does, its important to note here that Apple has already pulled the plug on this one although for jailbreakers, you can still use DOSPAD in its place to achieve the same things as detailed below.

That iDOS let you do is run DOS programs which means a whole lot of games can be played such as WarCraft II, 7th Guest and a whole lot more. [Read more…]

MacBook Air Gets Benchmarked

The guys over at MacWorld have been busy benchmarking the new range of MacBook Air laptops that Apple [AAPL] announced last week. The new models come with faster processors and SSD drives that help increase performance.

MacWorld tested the 11 inch 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo model with both the 64GB and 128GB SSD and also tested the 13 inch 1.86GHz models with the 128GB and 256GB SSDs inside. [Read more…]

White iPhone 4 Release Date – Spring 2011

Apple [AAPL] has shifted the release date of the white iPhone 4 again. This time it is being pushed even further away to the Spring of 2011.

“We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone yet again, but we’ve decided to delay its release until this spring.”

White iPhone 4 Reservations Added to App Store App

Apple [AAPL] updated the App Store App today to version 1.1. The new update now allows you to reserve products for pickup in an Apple store.

Along with being able to reserve regular products, one surprise shows the ability to reserve a White iPhone 4 although you can’t actually reserve it just yet. This has led a few people in to thinking that Apple might finally be getting close to release it. [Read more…]

iOS 4.1 Bug Lets you Bypass Lock Screen

iOS 4.1 and 4.2 has a bug that allows you to bypass the lock screen of any iPhone and gain access to the phone features of the device. It works by hitting the emergency call button and dialing a random number. When you do that and hit call, you quickly switch off the phone and switch it back on. Once this is done, the calling section of the phone is available.

When you are in the calling section you can browse around contacts, recent calls, favorites etc… and can make calls to any number. What you cannot do is switch your phone off when in this menu. To do this, you need to make a call and then hang up and switch off and back on to get back to the regular lock screen. [Read more…]

Google Android Now has 100,000 Apps

The Google [GOOG] Android market has hit another milestone by now having over 100,000 apps in the store.

It is still only 1/3 of the size of the Apple App store, but 100K apps is still an impressive amount that provides a lot of variety to users and a lot of options. [Read more…]

iOS 4.2 Changes iPad Orientation Switch to a Mute Switch

Apple [AAPL] looks set to be changing one of the functions of the iPad in the next iOS update. When iOS 4.2 is released, the current orientation lock switch found on the top right of the device will suddenly be changed to a mute switch for switching sound off.

Unfortunately from what we have heard, this is not an optional change and that the mute switch will be hear to stay. [Read more…]

11.6 Inch MacBook Air Teardown

Just a few days ago, Apple [AAPL] announced the new MacBook Air. Two new models were announced with the smaller one having an 11.6 inch screen. iFixit has done the usual and torn it apart to see whats exactly inside and let us know how easy it is to service the new laptop. Bad news is that its almost all propriety and therefore, difficult to put standard parts in to fix things or customise it.

Some highlights mentioned by iFixit include the scrapping of the IR sensor and sleep LED. These have been replaced by a USB 2.0 port on the right edge. Propriety 5-point security Torx screws are used to open it up although after that its all standard screws. [Read more…]

Flight Control HD Will Be Available for Mac App Store

Apple [AAPL] announced yesterday that the Mac App Store was scheduled for 90 days time to be launched for Mac OS X Snow Leopard and above. Following shortly after that announcement, Firemint has now said that it will be launching Flight Control HD for the Mac App Store. Google Chrome 7 Download Now Ready

Google [GOOG] has release the Google Chrome 7 browser. This newest and latest version contains a number of bug fixes as well as a few new features that improve the browsing experience for users.

New features included are aimed mostly at developers which include AppleScript support for Mac OS X users which allows for UI automation along with HTML5 parsing. [Read more…]

New MacBook Air Models Now Available

Apple [AAPL] has announced a couple of new MacBook Air models. The first is the regular sized 13.3 inch screen model.

This particular model measures 0.68 inches at the thickest point and 0.11 inches at the thinnest point. It weighs 2.9 pounds. Inside it has the option of either a 1.86GHz or 2.13GHz processor.

2GB of RAM is included inside that can be upgraded up to 4GB if needed. For storage there are two options of either a 128GB flash or 256GB flash. No HDD options are available on these models. [Read more…]
