We first mentioned the Neato XV-11 robot vacuum about a month ago and were impressed with what we saw in the press details. What makes the XV-11 stand out from other robot vacuums is that it uses lasers to track obstacles and walls within the room it is cleaning allowing to to more precisely work around the room without bouncing off furniture. Also the cleaner uses a more accurate cleaning pattern that allows it to cover the floor just once rather than several times. This speeds up the cleaning cycle allowing batteries to be kept for cleaning other rooms.
OhGizmo were able to get a demo of the XV-11 at CES with a quick demonstration of how it works around a room. I have to say it looks a little slower than the Roomba, but if it only needs to cover the floor once then perhaps the overall time will be a lot quicker. [Read more…]
Sony have launched two more notebooks called the VAIO F and VAIO Z series. This comes alongside the announcement of the
Sony have introduced a new notebook called the Sony VAIO Y Series. The Y Series VAIO features an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor running at 1.3GHz. It runs the Windows 7 Home Professional 64-bit operating system. The screen measures 13.3 inches and is backlit by LED. The LED screen is capable of showing a 1366 x 768 pixel image. For memory it has 4GB of RAM and for storage a 500GB hard drive.

3M are launching a new multitouch screen that measures 22 inches and is capable of capturing input from up to 10 fingers. The screen is called the M2256PW and runs at a high-definition resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels. The new LCD screen is aimed at professionals and professional consumers who are looking for true multi-touch compatibility.
The Pioneer AVIC X920BT is an in-car satnav system designed for a double-DIN slot. It has a large 6.1 inch screen that has a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and is touch-screen too. Above the screen a slot loading CD drive can be found next to a microSD slot I guess for using a card full of MP3 audio files to play while on the move.
Sony have launched new portable cameras called the MHS-CM5 and the MHS-PM5. The MHS-CM5 is pictured above and features a pistol grip with a swivel out 2.5 inch LCD screen. The camera is capable of HD video and has 5x optical zoom. The HD side of things on both cameras allows it to capture video in full HD 1080p at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Each camera has face detection and can be charged via USB.
The 3M MPro150 Pico Projector is an update to the previous MPro120 model that was launched a few months ago.
Acer are launching a new range of notebooks that utilise the Intel Core i3 and i5 Arrandale processors. As well as offering the latest Intel processors the notebooks have optional HD graphics and Blu-ray.
Lenovo have created an Android OS based phone called Lephone. The Android operating system on the Lephone has been through a complete facelift and according to MobileCrunch the phone has hardly any of the original OS sticking out.
Samsung have a small 14 inch 3D screen on show at CES this year that measures just 1.6mm thin. It’s odd to think a TV this thin can actually be built. As with all ultra thin TV’s that we have seen recently, this Samsung prototype also features a pedestal stand where the bulk of the electronics are stored to keep as much away from the back of the panel as needed.
