HTC HD2 to get Windows Mobile 7 – More Rumours

A couple of times last year a few bits of information were leaked about the possibility of the HTC HD2 getting the Windows Mobile 7 update when it becomes available. From what we understand the WM7 launch isn’t going to be any time soon and will likely be towards the end of the year.

The guys on the XDA Developers forum had one of their members ask about the possibility and a reply came back saying…

‘Thank you for your enquiry about HD2
What we do it ROM Upgrades from our website, however 6.5 windows mobile has only been out 2 months and windows mobile 7 hasn’t even been developed. This wont be out until next November at the earliest. But when it is available it will be a free download. ‘

Acer Aspire One 532h Intel Atom N450 Netbook Now Available

Acer have launched their latest Intel Atom N450 processor netbook called the Acer Aspire One 532h. The new Aspire One runs a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, has 1GB of DDR2 memory and for storage it has a 160GB SATA hard drive.

For connectivity the Aspire One netbook connects at 802.11b/g although no bluetooth is mentioned in the specs. The screen measures 10.1 inches and runs at a WSVGA resolution. The screen is backlit by LED and graphics are powered by the Intel GMA 3150 graphics chip. [Read more…]

Symbian UI Update Detailed

Nokia have created mockups of the latest Symbian S^4 UI that we first mentioned late last year. The new screen shots show a glimpse of what is to come this year. As well as providing updates there’s also technical information as well as a concept proposal and feedback wanted from users and developers.

It is expected that Symbian^4 (aka just Symbian 4) will be ready in quarter 3 this year with devices running the UI early in 2011. [Read more…]

Google Nexus One Upgrade Price Lowered

Google [GOOG] seem to have made a step in the right direction after some criticism about upgrade prices for the Nexus One. The step in the right direction sees Google refunding $100 for those who paid the upgrade price of $379 for the Nexus One bringing the price down to $279.

For those who have already purchased the phone at $379 a rebate should be with you in the next 14 days. For those of you looking to upgrade now you can go ahead and pick up the phone at $279. [Read more…]

Rumour: iPhone 4th Gen to have Touch Sensitive Case

Another day another rumour for the Apple [AAPL] iPhone 4th Gen… this time rumours are saying that the phone could perhaps have a touch sensitive case that allows it to function like the Magic Mouse.

I assume that’s the back casing of the phone covered in sensors as well as the side allowing gestures to say change the volume by sliding fingers down the edge of the screen or side of the phone and maybe a quick way to scroll through contacts by flicking the back of the device. [Read more…]

Nintendo DSi XL Coming to UK March 5

Nintendo have revealed a launch date for the Nintendo DSi XL which we first mentioned mid last year. It is set to hit the UK on March 5 this year.

The new DSi XL version is larger than previous models and boasts two 4.2 inch screens making them 93% bigger than the DS Lite screens.

As well as having larger screens the DSi XL screens will allow for a wider viewing angle allowing others to watch the action. [Read more…]

Marvell Plug Computer 3.0 with Wireless and Built-in Hard Drive

Marvell have unveiled a small PC that is called the Plug Computer 3.0. The Plug Computer 3.0 comes with integrated wireless connectivity as well as a built-in hard drive. As well as having the connectivity and storage built-in the Plug Computer runs a 2GHz Armada processor.

Plug Computers can be used for a variety of things including streaming video’s to a nearby TV, playing music over Wi-Fi to a stereo wireless receiver and allowing for connectivity to a number of gadgets around the home.

Acer Aspire One 532 Intel Atom N450 Netbook Official

Acer have officially announced their latest netbook called the Acer Aspire One 532. The new Aspire One netbook runs an Intel Atom N450 processor, has a 10.1 inch WSVGA screen and comes with 2GB of DDR2 memory.

The WSVGA screen is capable of a 1024 x 600 resolution and is backlit by LED. For storage the Aspire One 532 N450 netbook has a 250GB hard drive. For connectivity it has optional bluetooth and optional 3G as well as WiFi. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee 1001P Intel Atom N450 Netbook

The ASUS Eee 1001P was launched within the last week and features one of the new Intel Atom N450 processors that provide better battery life and increased performance. Although it’s not up to par with the 14 hours that the ASUS 1005PE provides battery wise, it still achieves 11 hours of usage on a single charge which is very respectable.

The Intel Atom N450 netbook runs at 1.66GHz. The 1001P comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory which can be upgraded to 2GB if needed. For storage the netbook has a 250GB SATA hard drive that spins at 5400RPM. A 0.3 megapixel webcam is included and found above the screen in the bezel as with other netbooks. [Read more…]

Apple iSlate to be an iPhone on Steroids

Another Apple [AAPL] rumour hit late last night, this time from quite a credible source who hasn’t let BGR down in the past. The rumour is in relation to the Apple iSlate again. This time the source claims that the tablet is to basically be an iPhone on steroids and includes multi-touch gestures that were described as being “out of control”.

As well as hearing about the beefed up iPhone side of things the device is to be powered by an ARM CPU that runs incredibly fast. The kernel from the iPhone is used on the iSlate and it has a model number of K48AP (an internal name). [Read more…]

Linksys WRT54GL Lego Router

What do you do if you have 5 Linksys WRT54GL routers in your home all boxed up… you strip one of them down and rebuild it with Lego. This is what a guy called Luke did. He had 5 spare that he purchased from Amazon as they were on offer.

The goal of converting the Linksys to Lego was to retain the stacking ability that the regular version has as well as retaining full functionality which included working LED’s, buttons, ports and antennas as well as keeping airflow through the Lego casing to keep things running cool.

The design to build the Lego router was created in a program called MLCAD. The creator wanted to keep a sleek black look using smooth Lego bricks. By choosing a row of clear bricks for the LED’s, two vents on the side and a reset button on the front the design was finished. [Read more…]
