Touch and Play Rubiks Cube

Rubiks Cube
If you think you are the master of Rubiks cube and can solve it quicker then anyone else, then you need to move up to the next level and get a Touch and Play Rubiks Cube. The idea of this rubiks cube is that you play it blindfolded and use your touch senses to solve the puzzle. Six different textures are found on this (1 on each face) which are Metal, wood, textile, rubber, plastic and stone. I wish it was real, but right now it seems to be just concept for now. But, I struggle with the original and have only solved it a couple of times so my chances of solving a puzzle like this are zero.

The Domino Phone

Domino Phone
The Domino Phone comes in a cool wooden box. It is a thin phone with each key having dots like Dominos on it representing the numbers from 1 – 9. Each key is lit from the backlight. It has a fairly large screen and looks to be one great phone. But, it is concept at the moment so I have no idea if the domino phone will be made available. It was designed by a Syntes Studio based in Sweden and appart from the picture above and the one after the jump we have no more information on this phone.

Remote Controlled Dinosaur

Remote Controlled Dinosaur
Remote control toys have entertained for years, from cars to more recently the Picoz helicopter. Now firebox has bought forward a new concept in the race to evolve RC toys – an RC dinosaur. Named the Pterosaur, it has a range of 100ft and can be used indoors and outdoors. This prehistoric reptile flies by flapping its wings and is ready to fly straight from the box. Once the original charge has depleted, it is simple to recharge – it just uses the portable quick charger. (the hand-held control) If you are afraid that a small crash may have catastrophic consequences – possible extinction – then be put at ease, the Pterosaur has a durable foam body that should withstand day to day impacts.

Dell Ultra-thin LCD Concept

Dell LCD
This LCD created by Dell is ultra thin at half an inch thick. It has 4 times the current HDTV resolution, allows integrated peripherals around the display, allows you to daisy chain multiple screens and all goes through a single bidirectional cable. A lot of parts have been removed from the screen to cut its size and weight down although I am unsure how much of that is packed in to a box that could be stored under the desk. Either way, the screen is nice to look at especially with the surround that appears to be glass.

Concept SLIQ-phone

SLIQ Phone
The concept SLIQ phone is very SLIQ. It has no keyboard, keypad and works with an improved sensory interface. The phone is just 10mm thick, has a nice LCD display and has a 2 megapixel camera built in. My personal opinion on this is that it does look cool. I am not fully convinced on the use of touch screens as interfaces though. They work ok on a Pocket PC as you use a stylus for them, but for a mobile phone I am not 100% convinced yet. I do hope the iPhone and SLIQ (If it becomes real) do change my mind.

HP eBook Reader

HP eBook Reader
Here we have a concept idea from HP. The device is an eBook reader which is A4 in size. What makes this eBook reader stand out is the unique interface which allows you to turn the pages of the book in a similar way you would when reading a regular book. It appears to work with touch sensors on the bottom and sides of the page which allow you to slide your finger and see the page turned to the other side of the screen.

Microsofts DigiDesk

Microsoft DigiDesk
Microsoft have some cool concept ideas if you dig deep in to their website. One of these has been found which is named the DigiDesk. It is a desk which is made of 2 screens which allow you to browse and flick through documents, movies and what ever else you want to display on it. The controls on the desk change according to what you are doing so that you get a very customised feel for the device. As the world changes more towards media and the computer you could start seeing more devices like this built in to regular desks.

Cool Concept USB Drives

Latest USB Drives
Concept devices tend to be cool with some weird and wonderful ideas. These new USB flash drives are no exception and extremely cool although probably a little bit crazy. Sponge bob is the first drive which starts its life as a USB drive and when the drive fills up with data it slowly changes in to a blowfish. This is a unique way of showing how much data is on the flash drive. It is supposedly going to work with a micro pump powered by USB which can inflate the cover of the drive.

The next USB drive is some kind of weird Orange. Again, it works by the same way the sponge bob drive does in that it is inflated according to the amount of free space available on the USB drive. More pictures after the jump.

Jaty Leisure Navi-Phone
The Jaty Leisure Navi-Phone is currently concept at the moment and will be named the GPS-L2000. It has GPS functionality built in which accomodates for Sea, Mountain and car as well as having a number of POI built in. The screen is 3.2 inch LCD which is touch screen. USB for fast transfer of files is included and a mini SD card slot to allow the memory to be increased.

As well as having some cool GPS features the phone also is capable of playing MP3 music, has an electronic dictionary and DMB TV which is an optional extra.

It actually looks like a really cool phone although it seems like it might only be coming available in Korea.

S Series Mobile – Concept

S Series Mobile
The S Series Mobile phone is concept at the moment and looks very sleek. It appears to be made of wood combined with a stylish mobile phone screen and keypad. The keppad is not always needed as all the functions of the phone can be operated with out it, although it is there just incase you prefer that method.

No details of availability yet with it being concept, but hopefully one of the big companies can pick this beauty up. If we hear of it hitting production we will let you know.

Concept MP3 Watch

Concept MP3 Player
Nathan Davis has created the concept MP3 player watch which is a silicone band that you wear on your wrist. It features an OLED display under a layer polycarbonate. To listen to the music, you need no wires. This watch features bluetooth technology along with bluetooth headphones to send the audio wirelessly.

This is another cool watch design from Yanko Design that we would love to see hit the market. No doubt in the next year or few this type of watch will be readily available.
