Panasonic have create an SDXC card that has a capacity of 64GB. As well as a 64GB version a 48GB version has also being launched providing plenty of storage for your compatible gadgets.

The 48GB model is set to be priced at $550 while the 64GB version will cost $700 when launched on February 19. The 64GB card has been known about for a few months now with a few samples being shipped, but no production models. The cards themselves have a write speed of 22MB/s and so far it appears that they will be the first of this size to be launched. [Read more…]

Nintendo have revealed a launch date for the Nintendo DSi XL which we first mentioned mid last year. It is set to hit the UK on March 5 this year.

The new DSi XL version is larger than previous models and boasts two 4.2 inch screens making them 93% bigger than the DS Lite screens.

As well as having larger screens the DSi XL screens will allow for a wider viewing angle allowing others to watch the action. [Read more…]

Marvell have unveiled a small PC that is called the Plug Computer 3.0. The Plug Computer 3.0 comes with integrated wireless connectivity as well as a built-in hard drive. As well as having the connectivity and storage built-in the Plug Computer runs a 2GHz Armada processor.

Plug Computers can be used for a variety of things including streaming video’s to a nearby TV, playing music over Wi-Fi to a stereo wireless receiver and allowing for connectivity to a number of gadgets around the home.

D-Link have created the myPocket HSDPA/HSUPA Router that allows connections to quad-band GSM/EDGE networks as well as WCDMA bands I, II and V. Having connectivity to these networks allows it to work both in the US as well as many parts of the world.

The myPocket Router utilises a SIM card to connect to networks and is powered by battery and charged by USB. Up to 16 users are able to connect up to the myPocket Router wirelessly although you can also use it for 1 user as a wired USB modem if needed. [Read more…]

Silicon Power have launched a worlds first 400X 128GB Compact Flash card. The card it’s self has a write speed of up to 90MB/s and currently is the largest capacity compact flash card available.

Being a high-speed memory card, it allows cameras to write data faster. The card is also stable allowing professional photographers to use the card and capture many high-resolution photos both quickly and without running out of space.

Error Correction Code is also built in to the flash card that ensures data is stored correctly. By using Wear Leveling technology the card also has the potential to last longer as data is written across the card rather than over the same blocks repeatedly. [Read more…]

Clickfree had their latest gadget on show at CES called the Clickfree C2N. The C2N is a step up from the original Clickfree C2 in that it can now backup files on computers connected to a local network. Clickfree make the backup process simple and all that is required at a basic level is that you connect the drive up to a USB port on a PC, Laptop or Mac. When connected some software will autoload and files will be backed up.

The new network backups work by connecting the drive up to each PC on the network just once. When this is complete you can connect the Clickfree C2N to any of the computers and it will seek out all PC’s on the network and backup their files in to the one location. [Read more…]

Over at CES the guys who create the ioSafe Solo SSD that we mentioned last week decided to put on a presentation of the SSD getting dropped, burnt, dunked and driven over by a tractor. The result… check after the jump.

The idea of the ioSafe Solo drives is to protect your data from worst case scenarios such as house fires or floods. The company encase a harddrive or SSD in a special bag that’s sealed to prevent water getting in. A special coating is then covered around the drive and then a very strong casing around that to make a heavy but safe lump to store all of your photos, videos, documents etc… without the worry of the data getting damaged. Panasonic have on display at CES 2010 a roadmap of memory cards that they are working on along with their potential speeds. What’s interesting to see here is at the top right of the page you’ll see a 2TB memory card which is quite an achievement (see larger version of the image below).

Although the 2TB card is still a way off, the 1TB card should be with us towards the end of this year. The new memory cards fall in to a new category called SDXC cards and will start at 48GB in capacity moving up to 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB variations. The previous cards known as SDHC show as having a speed of up to 22MBps. The newer SDXC cards unfortunately don’t show the speed although it is indicated that the speed will increase on these new range of cards. The specifications for SDXC do show possible speeds of up to 104MBps so it shows what potential these cards can actually reach. [Read more…]

Sony have launched two more notebooks called the VAIO F and VAIO Z series. This comes alongside the announcement of the VAIO Y series we just wrote about. The VAIO Z Series is described as being ultra-portable while the VAIO F Series is described as being a multi-media notebook.

The Z Series weighs just over three pounds and is housed in carbon-fibre and aluminium making it very durable. The screen on this notebook measures 13.1 inches and is backlit by LED. The model also can be supplied with a Blu-Ray optical drive and be used to output to HDTV’s if desired. [Read more…]

It seems like Nintendo are creating a new Nintendo DS handheld gaming system that will have upgraded graphics as well as motion sensing technology.

Improving graphics is generally a step forwards for console makers, so adding better graphics to the DS 2 does make sense. I’m yet to be convinced of motion control on a handheld though although Nintendo have done well with the Wii and DS, so seem to know what they are doing in general. [Read more…]

D-Link have announced a new wireless N pocket router that as the name suggests, is pocket sized allowing it to be packed up for travel. The router is capable of creating a wireless N network (802.11n) or can be used as an AP as part of an existing wired network.

The Pocket N router also has an Ethernet port allowing a PC, XBox or similar device to connect up to a wireless network. The device also uses SharePort technology that allows users to share USB devices. [Read more…]

Amazon have announced the Kindle DX will be shipping with Global Wireless enabled allowing it to function in over 100 countries. The new version of the Kindle DX will start shipping on January 19 at a cost of $489.

The Kindle DX is an eBook reader that comes with a 9.7 inch eInk screen. Wireless connectivity is built in allowing you to download eBooks anywhere you can pick up a mobile phone signal.

Downloads take about 60 seconds to complete and once downloaded are stored on the device for you to read at any time. The DX is capable of storing around 3,500 books allowing a very healthy library of books to be carried in your bag. Other features of the Kindle DX include auto rotation to put the books in to landscape mode automatically if required. [Read more…]
