T-Mobile in the US posted a brief message on Twitter relating to the HTC HD2. The message says… ‘Think you know the HTC HD2? Guess again¦ Stay tuned for more next week.
Although it doesn’t give anything away it certainly indicates something is happening with the HD2 on their network which we have been waiting for recently.
The HTC HD2 is believed to be launching on the network sometime in March, but perhaps this cryptic message means they will be launching it early. [Read more…]
MWC is about to start in Barcelona and as expected, a number of companies have already set up displays with one of them being Microsoft. Engadget managed to capture a picture of one of the banners that Microsoft [MSFT] have set up which just says Windows Phone with something underneath that is covered with a sticker, which we assume covers the “official name” of WM7.
Thanks to the photoshop skills of someone at Engadget, the image was adjusted to actually reveal what’s behind the sticker and shows what appears to be the official full name of WM7 which is Windows Phone 7 Series.
Although the number 7 is no big surprise at all, it does make you wonder what’s going on with the Series part of the name. Perhaps breakouts in to pro, media, home versions of the software will be seen. [Read more…]
T-Mobile have launched a new Beta service for G1 owners called Voice Plus Beta. The Voice Plus software should be launching next week and will allow those who successfully get accepted in to the program to have a call and voicemail management interface on their Android G1 phone.
Features on Voice Plus beta include Call Divert that allows you to specify which numbers automatically get diverted to voice-mail without ringing the phone. Call Defer is a service that lets the calling person know that you are busy but will be available to talk at a later time providing details of when they should call back. We’ve seen a fair share of unique accessories for the Apple [AAPL] iPhone. This time the unique accessory is a case designed to look like a mix tape that a number of you will have made in the 80’s and 90’s.
The case has an image of an old FE 90 tape bonded to it to create a vinyl like exterior to protect the iPhone held inside. Inside the case is a soft scratch free grey felt to protect the screen and casing of the iPhone as well as providing a bit of padding. The case is hand cut and machine stitched. Although not washable by machine, the build of it certainly allows handwashing it in warm water to keep it clean. [Read more…]
Yesterday we mentioned a new Nokia N series phone that was rumoured to be launching or at least unveiled at MWC this month. The phone was spotted as the Nokia N8 although perhaps the N8 was referring to this Nokia N87 smartphone as the specs look very similar.
The Nokia N87 is said to have a 12 megapixel camera built in that is capable of capturing images at 720p. It uses Carl Zeiss optics and has a Xenon flash along with night viewing. The processor powering the Nokia N87 is believed to be a 600MHz ARM Cortex 8 processor.
Wireless is built in to the phone which is expected to be 802.11b/g and perhaps n also. An A-GPS chip is also built in allowing for location based services as well as navigation to be used on the device. An FM radio transmitter is to be found in the phone also. For storage it is expected to have either 16GB or 32GB onboard. [Read more…]
BGR managed to get hold of some details related to the launch dates of the Motorola Devour. The Devour will be launching on February 25th on indirect channels at authorised distributors and the following month on March 15th to all channels. Pricing in this instance is not known due to Verizon (who will be the carrier) not listing prices on the leaked documents.
A number of sources have mentioned to BGR that the price point is expected to be $99 for the smartphone thoughwhich is not a bad price if it happens.
The Motorola Devour has a 3.1 inch touchscreen that has a HVGA resolution displaying 320 x 480 pixels with 65K colours as well as a slide out QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the left side of the screen. For connectivity the Devour has Bluetooth v2.0+EDR and supports the usual headset, handsfree, stereo, phonebook and Audio/Visual remote control profiles. Wireless is also included that is compatible with 802.11b/g networks. GPS can also be found in the device providing location based services. [Read more…]
As well as introducing the Garmin-Asus nuvifone M10 just this morning, Garmin-Asus have also unveiled the Garmin-Asus nuvifone A50 smartphone. The A50 is an Android based smartphone that also includes all the Garmin satnav software heavily integrated in to the Android OS.
By using Google [GOOG] Android as the operating system on the A50, Garmin-Asus are able to customise things even more. Navigation is integrated in to almost all the applications which includes email, text messaging and even photos.
‘The A50 integrates navigation and GPS functionality throughout the device, which gives customers the versatility and reliability they need as they navigate their day.
Garmin and ASUS have announced the nuvifone M10 smartphone today that runs the Windows Mobile platform which Garmin-Asus say it ideal for business use. The phone, as the name suggests, is another satnav/smartphone convergence that allows users to carry an all in one device that has Garmin’s expertise in navigation built in while offering full support in Windows Mobile for Exchange services allowing business users to keep in touch.
‘The Garmin-Asus M10 is a powerful time-saving tool that is designed for anyone who is tired of carrying numerous devices and instead wants to carry one device that gives them many of the same features found on a stand-alone phone, laptop, PND and digital camera, said Cliff Pemble, Garmin’s president and COO.
It appears that T-Mobile might be introducing the new model of the myTouch 3G Android based smartphone today as the phone has appears on their site. New features on the phone vs the older myTouch 3G include a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a little extra memory that sees it move from 192MB up to 288MB.
Software on this version of the phone includes the new Swype keyboard and doubleTwist.
Although it is rumoured to be released today, as of yet there are no prices available. The previous model is still selling for $149 on a 2 year contract although the phone has been discontinued. [Read more…]
Acer have revealed details of a couple of new phones called the Acer E110 that runs the Google Android OS and the Acer P300 that will run Windows mobile.
The Acer E110 has appeared over at Bluetooth SIG and is expected to run Android 2.0 when launched. For connectivity the E110 will use UMTS/HSDPA at 900/1200MHz or 850/1900MHz. Assisted GPS is built in along with Bluetooth and although not mentioned here, we assume WiFi at atleast 802.11b/g. The screen size and resolution is unknown although we do know it is touchscreen. Four buttons are to be found under the screen which are home to the traditional Send/End/Back and Home keys. [Read more…]
Information found today shows that HTC could be working on a new smartphone called the HTC Scorpion. The Scorpion is also rumoured to have a newer processor from Qualcomm that runs at 1.5GHz. The processor is described as being a snapdragon, but the one we currently have runs at 1GHz… perhaps Qualcomm are planning on releasing a quicker model? Information shows that the 1.5GHz chip could be launched Q3 or Q4 this year.
As well as showing the faster CPU, indications also say that the HTC Scorpion will also run on Google Android 2.2 which at the moment hasn’t been released with the most current version being Android 2.1.
Other information found in the build file indicates it will run Sense UI and someone also has pointed out that it could be going to Sprint. [Read more…]
The HTC Legend has been snapped a few times before and here we find another picture of it, but this time the picture also was sent with a number of specs to let us know exactly what will be included with the phone.
The Legend looks to have an aluminium casing that wraps around the edges of the phone. The smartphone has a 3.2 inch HVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and the phone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor that runs at 600MHz.
Other features include a fairly decent five megapixel camera that uses an LED flash to light subjects. For connectivity it has Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and WiFi. [Read more…]
