Verizon iPhone 4 Sales Data Leaked

Some sales details have leaked about the number of Verizon iPhone and AT&T iPhones sold over a five day period. The numbers show that the Verizon version of the iPhone was outselling the AT&T model on all days around the time of launch. However, these numbers are said to still be below what Apple and Verizon had predicted.

The numbers were found by BGR and are as follows:

– Thursday: Verizon = 909, AT&T = 539
– Friday: Verizon = 916, AT&T = 680
– Saturday: Verizon = 660, AT&T = 471
– Sunday: Verizon = 796, AT&T = 701

Sony S1 PlayStation Tablet Details

It appears that Sony could be following along quite a bit with the PlayStation theme mixed with Android 3.0. Not only has the Xperia Play been announced in the last week, we also hear rumors of a PlayStation Tablet arriving some time this year.

The details were detailed by Engadget and indicate that the screen will measure 9.4 inches and that the tablet will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb when it launches. We also hear that it will be “PlayStation Certified” which will turn the tablet in to a fully fledged games machine. [Read more…]

Motorola Xoom Tablet To Cost $799 for 3G/4G – $600 for WiFi

Motorola has finally confirmed the final price of the Motorola Xoom tablet. Two models will be launching which will include a 3G/4G model and then a WiFi only model.

The more expensive of the two is of course the WiFi+3G/4G model which has been confirmed to have a price tag of $799. The WiFi only model will cost $600 at launch. [Read more…]

Vodafone has announced that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be landing on its network in the UK as an exclusive.

LG Announce LG Optimus Pad

With the recent announcement of Android 3.0 Honeycomb, we are now finally beginning to see some worthy Android Tablet competitors. At MWC this week, several have been announced such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from Samsung to name just one of them. Another to be announced was by LG and is the LG Optimus Pad.

The Optimus Pad is the European version of the LG G-Slate. It has an 8.9 inch screen and when launched, will run Google Android 3.0. The NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor is used inside to power the device. On the back, a couple of cameras can be found that allow you to capture video in 3D. [Read more…]

ViewSonic Announce V350 Smartphone and ViewPad Tablet

ViewSonic has introduced a couple of new devices just ahead of MWC that kicks off in a few days time.

First on the list is the ViewPad 10Pro that is described as being a professional tablet. It has a 10 inch screen and is capable of dual booting between Windows 7 Professional and Android 2.2. The idea behind this is that the user uses Android for email and basic web browsing, but switches to Windows when a little more kick is needed. LG Optimus Pad to Launch at MWC 2011

LG has announced that the LG Optimus Pad. This particular model is a European 3G version of the G-Tablet.

It runs an NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip inside. It has an 8.9 inch screen that uses capacitive touch. The battery is 6,400 mAh. As for the operating system, it will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb when it launches. [Read more…]

Google Nexus S Reboot Issue To Be Soon Fixed by OTA Update

Those of you who own a Google Nexus S that has random reboot problems, Google has provided an update saying that a fix will be available in the next two weeks.

Google will push out an OTA (over the air) update to Nexus S devices as explained by Ry Guy on a Google Mobile Help Thread.

The Daily iPad Digital News Paper to be Released 2 February

News Corp has announced the launch date of its new digital news paper called The Daily. The launch date will be February 2 and is believed to be launched in time with the new Apple subscription platform that will be made available in iTunes.

The Daily will be launched at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Apple will have Eddy Cue attending who is the VP of Internet Services. Also, we hear Rupert Murdoch will also be attending the event. [Read more…]

RIM PlayBook Battery Life Expected to Beat iPad

RIMs senior business marketing VP has commented that the battery life on the PlayBook will either match or beat that of the Apple iPad.

The iPad battery life on the WiFi version is just over 10 hours with the 3G version following closely behind it. When the PlayBook was seen at CES with a 93% battery life it showed as having just 4 hours and 5 minutes remaining life left which indicates RIM needs to do a lot of optimizing to attain that goal. PlayBook is ‘Great’ With or Without BlackBerry Phone Tethered

RIM is getting ready to launch the PlayBook in the next few months. The new tablet has left some positive thoughts around the Internet although one problem with it is that it’s a companion device to a BlackBerry Smartphone. To access some of the functions of the tablet, it will need to be tethered rather than working as a standalone tablet.

We now hear that RIM is changing this a little over time. In terms of PIM functions, these will eventually be standalone rather than having to rely on the BlackBerry tether. Unfortunately, Biden from RIM didn’t go in to details about corporate email which at the moment, will rely on the tethered connection to function. [Read more…]

iPad 2 and iPhone 5 to Shift to Qualcomm Chipsets

Engadget managed to get some interesting info on the upcoming iPad 2 and iPhone 5. The details indicate that a shift to Qualcomm chipsets will be used. This shift will also be done on the next generation Apple TV from what we understand.

The new iPad will feature a dual GSM / CDMA chipset produced by Qualcomm and will mark Apple’s shift away from Infineon as its chipset maker to Qualcomm for all of its mobile devices. It’s not clear if the chipset being used will be based on the company’s EV-DO / HSPA Gobi variety or an entirely new design. Presumably, the strength of the new dual-mode chipset is that it will allow both Verizon and AT&T to offer the iPad simultaneously.
