Wireless Rock Speaker from Creative

Creative has launched a new Wireless Rock Speaker called the Sound Blaster Wireless Rock Outdoor Speaker. It is designed to be used outside in a garden and can have music wirelessly sent to it from a computer or other compatible device.

The speaker works on 2.4GHz technology and has a range of up to 100 feet from the source of the wireless signal that transmits the music. [Read more…]

Some School Children in Scotland get Free iPads

Students of the Cedar School in Scotland have been given iPads to use for study. In total, 105 iPad units have been handed out, all of which connect to the school run wireless network which allows students to receive course work as well as perform various research on subjects being taught.

This iPad-centric approach to education makes sure students are fed a daily quota of homework and various activities, not to mention lessons in English, math, languages and history.

Mercades-Benz has launched a new iPhone app. The new application allows the iPhone to communicate with mbrace and access details of the car such as it’s current location. A virtual key lets you remotely lock or unlock the car if needed.

Skyfire for iPhone Waiting for Approval – Will Bring Flash to iPhone

Skyfire is a browser that is capable of playing flash content on the iPhone. The way it works is that Skyfire has a cloud server which recognises content on a page is flash. The server then converts the flash to HTML 5 content on the fly (when the user wants to play flash content). The content is then streamed down to the user to view when needed.

When converting the content from Flash to HTML 5, the system is capable of compressing the file size making the content as small as 25% of the original size. [Read more…]

Samsung Fascinate Galaxy S Class Smartphone Arriving Early This Month

An insider at Verizon [VZ] has informed Engadget that the Samsung Fascinate is being prepped for launch and that it will be arriving soon.

Verizon is currently training up staff on how to use the phone. Launch kits are also currently being shipped to Verizon stores around the US. [Read more…]

Twitter for iPad Launches

Twitter for iPad has finally landed. The update arrived last night which brings the official Twitter app to the iPad.

The iPad version of the app brings a number of features which make use of the larger screen on the iPad. The system allows users to easily open streams, look at links within streams and even pinch individual tweets to see more details about the person sending the tweet, as displayed in the image below. Sony Announce Music Unlimited – Music Streaming Service

Sony has announced Music Unlimited. Music Unlimited is a music streaming service that allows users to stream music to various devices.

The service gives access to millions of tracks on the internet and has been designed to work on Sony’s existing products. It allows users to listen to music wherever they are all based around the cloud so that everything is always available wherever you are. [Read more…]

Amazon Changes TV Rentals to 99 Cents in Response to Apple

At the Apple special event yesterday, Apple [AAPL] announced that TV show rentals will be coming in at 99 cents. Amazon has now responded by also dropping the price of many TV shows on it’s service down to 99 cents.

A big difference between the two still remains though in that rentals from Apple are just rentals whereas paying 99 cents for a TV show at Amazon lets you keep the content to watch over again. [Read more…]

Infographic: How the iPod nano has Changed Since Original Launch

We don’t post that many infographics, but thought this was worth a quick look at.

The infographic here shows how the iPod nano has changed over the years. The latest model is the 6th generation. Each generation has added new features and changed things around a bit. The first started off with a monochrome screen which was replaced with a colour screen, then a larger screen, then a wide screen, tall screen, taller screen and on to the square screen.

The 6th gen model is the first to adopt a touchscreen and drop the click wheel controls. [Read more…]

New iPod touch Could have 1 Megapixel Camera on Back

It appears that the new iPod touch has a different camera in the back when compared to the iPhone 4.

The iPod touch specs reveal that the camera on the back can capture images at 960 x 720 pixels which equates to about 1 megapixel. This is below the 5 megapixels of the iPhone 4 camera. [Read more…]

iOS Activations Comments Challenged by Google

Yesterday at the Apple [AAPL] special event, Steve Jobs mentioned that iOS activations were running at 230,000 new per day. He then commented that these are “new” activations and not upgrades. He then went on to say that some companies give large numbers of upgrading customers. This was an attempt to make Apple look better.

Google [GOOG] has responded by saying…

“The Android activation numbers do not include upgrades and are, in fact, only a portion of the Android devices in the market since we only include devices that have Google services.”

Samsung HMX-T10 Full HD Camcorder Announced

Samsung has announced a new Full HD camcorder called the Samsung HMX-T10.

The technical specs show that it has a 5.1 megapixel sensor (2.07M effective) along with a 10x optical zoom lens with an F1.8 aperture.

The camera has a 2.7 inch LCD touchscreen on the back. On to the Full HD recording, it’s actually capable of recording video at 1920×1080 at 60i (not p). [Read more…]
