PSP Go Disassembled and Reassembled in Stop Motion

The PSP Go has been taken apart before a few times, but this time the whole process was captured in stop motion animation showing each screw and cable being unfastened until every piece of the GO is separated.

Magnetic Tape is Capable of Storing 35TB

Fujifilm and IBM have been working on increasing the capacity of magnetic tape and have managed to create a tape capable of storing up to 35TB of data on it. 35TB allows the tape to hold the contents of 35 million books which if printed/shelved they would require a shelf 248 miles long.

The 35TB capacity has increase storage by 44 times compared to the next largest tape and has been achieved by making the magnetic particles smaller and still capable of keeping their state. The tape measures 800 meters in length and per square inch 29.5 billion bits of data can be stored. [Read more…]

Keyboard vs Tablet vs iPhone etc… Text Entry Test

A test was done over at Gyford that put six devices to the test against each other to see which had the quickest input method. The list included a pen (yes, pen and paper), a keyboard, a Newton, Graffiti, Treo and iPhone. Garmin ASUS Nuvifone M10 Pre-Orders Start in Taiwan

The Garmin ASUS M10 is about to launch in Taiwan and the company are now taking pre-orders for the smartphone.

The Garmin M10 will run Windows 6.5.3 when launched. This particular version of Windows Phone has a thinner task bar along the top allowing for more space for applications to run.

Those who pre-order their phones now should receive them by February 6. [Read more…]

Acer Aspire One Intel Atom N270 Netbook on Clearance

The Acer Aspire One running the Intel Atom N270 processor is currently on clearance over at Amazon. As it runs the Intel Atom N270 processor, it is classed as being slightly older due to the launch of the Intel Atom N450 netbooks recently.

The netbook it’s self is still decent though with the N270 processor running at 1.6GHz. The netbook has 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB SATA drive that spins at 5400RPM. For connectivity it has wireless built in that connects at 801.11b/g speeds. [Read more…]

Samsung NB30 Intel Atom N450 Netbook Now Available in the US

The Samsung NB30 is now available in the US to buy. The NB30 netbook runs an Intel Atom N450 processor that provides more speed and utilises less battery power to achieve that. What this allows is a fairly decent netbook in terms of performance as well as longer battery lives than the previous Intel Atom processors available at the end of last year.

The Samsung NB30 is a semi-rugged netbook that has a spill resistant keyboard. The lid also has a coating that allows it to be protected from minor scratches and scuffs. [Read more…]

More Apple Tablet Details Revealed by WSJ

WSJ have created a list of what can be expected in the Apple iSlate or iTablet or whatever it will be called. The tablet will come with the ability to be shared with several members of a household and could possibly use facial recognition to adjust settings according to individual needs. If it is cloud based then each user will get their own files when logging in.

Other information reveals that an on-screen keyboard will be used for text entry. That particular point is an obvious one really with any sort of tablet device. The tablet will focus on content for old media such as text books, news and TV putting them all in your hand while on the move. [Read more…]

Garmin Zumo 220 for Bikers

Garmin have introduced a new satnav designed specifically for bikers. The navigation unit is called the Garmin Zumo 220 and features a 3.5 inch colour touchscreen that has a resolution of 320×240 pixels.

Bluetooth is built in that allows text to speech guidance to be sent over to a bluetooth headset. A loud speaker is also built in for audio. As for extras, it is reported that a lane assist feature is included along with an off-road navigation function.

Pre-loaded maps of the US, Canada and Puerto Rico are included with the device as well as six million points of interest. [Read more…]

Garmin-ASUS to Launch an Android Phone and the Garmin M10 WM6

Garmin-ASUS are to unveil their first Android smartphone this year at MWC 2010. The unveiling of the phone will be the beginning of what is believed to be 4 – 5 new Windows Mobile and Android phones being launched this year.

Garmin-ASUS hope to shift about 1 million units this year although hopefully they don’t follow the G60 pictured above and take years to launch after the official announcement. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4.0 OS Leaked Details

Details of the new iPhone 4.0 OS were leaked to BGR recently with a few details of what we could be seeing as soon as next week. New features could include multi-touch gestures OS-wide which adds to the rumour of the iTablet or iSlate using the same OS when launched.

Multitasking has also been mentioned in the leaked information that allows applications to be run in the background with a “few new ways”. Changes to the UI on the graphics side have also been mentioned that are supposedly going to make using the device a lot easier and more efficient. [Read more…]

Gateway LT2118u 10.1-Inch Intel Atom N450 Netbook – 10 Hour Batter

Gateway have launched a new Intel Atom N450 netbook on to the market called the Gateway LT2118u. The Gateway netbook has a 1.66GHz intel atom N450 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory that runs at 667MHz and a 250GB SATA hard drive.

The screen on the Gateway netbook measures 10.1 inches and is in a WSVGA format and is backlit by LED. The screen can display 1024 x 600 pixels. An Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 runs the graphics on this netbook. For connectivity the netbook has 802.11b/g/n wireless. The battery is capable of providing over 10 hours of usage on a single charge. The OS running on it is Windows 7 Starter. [Read more…]

Eye-Fi Pro X2 Arrives in April in UK

Eye-Fi are bringing their Pro X2 card to the UK in April. The Pro X2 wireless card can store 8GB of data and also has a wireless transmitter/receiver built in allowing cameras to transfer images over the air to a home computer or FTP server.

The cards themselves are regular SD memory cards that you insert in your camera. Before you do that you need to configure the card to log on to a wireless network by giving it key’s and whatever else is needed to log on. Once configured on the Eye-Fi site your camera is ready to go and can upload photos as you take them as long as a wireless signal is available. [Read more…]
