Advent Vega Tablet Has Flash 10.1 Removed

Advent announced yesterday that Adobe Flash 10.1 running on the Advent Vega tablet has not passed Adobe’s certification. What this means is that all Advent Vega’s sold from now on will have Flash 10.1 removed.

A version of the Adobe 10.1 download for the Vega is expected to be made available early in 2011, we assume when Advent iron out the bugs with Adobe. [Read more…]

Gmail Adds Gmail Delegation – Let Others Access Your Email

Google [GOOG] has rolled out email delegation to Gmail users. Previously, the service had only been made available to Google Apps email users.

What the email delegation service does is lets you have someone else be able to log in to your email account. This could be handy for those who run both private and business email accounts which would allow them to use both accounts at the same time. Other uses could include letting an assistant at work access your email so they could manage email for you. [Read more…]

iOS Infinity Blade Update Landing Next Week

Infinity Blade for the iPhone and IPad (and iPod touch) launched last week. We now hear that a new update is incoming as early as next week.

The new update will bring five new weapons to the game as well as five new shields, five new helmets and new armor. As well as the new weapons and defense features, the game will have a new level cap of 45 added to it. [Read more…]

Google Buys Zetawire Mobile Payment Company

Google [GOOG] has acquired a company called Zetawire. This particular company focuses on mobile payments although little is known about the company.

An analyst revealed one probable reason why Google acquired Zetawire was actually related to a patent they owned which is titled… “mobile banking, advertising, identity management, credit card and mobile coupon transaction processing”. [Read more…]

Microsoft Windows Update Record Set – 17 Bulletins, 40 Vulnerabilities

Microsoft [MSFT] has set a new record this patch Tuesday when it sent out 17 security bulletins that tackled 40 vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system and related software (such as Office).

This is the third time this year that a record has been set. The Windows Update patches in October 2010 had 16 bulletins accompanying them althoughthere were 49 actual vulnerabilities addressed at that time. [Read more…]

O2 Android 2.2 Update for Dell Streak Coming This Week

The Dell Streak Android 2.2 update has been appearing across various networks over the last few weeks. We now hear that for those with a Dell Streak on the O2 network, you’ll be getting the update by the end of this week. No specific day has been provided though.

Kinect Hacked to Create Virtual Piano

Another Kinect Hack has been created. This time it’s called the Keyboard Anywhere and basically allows a keyboard to be virtually created on any surface.

The system uses the OpenKinect library as well as Python code and with all that, it can create a virtual piano on a desk, floor, wall or any other surface.

To get it to work you first need to create a space and point the Kinect at that space. Once done, you define the area where the piano is, move a virtual piano on to that space and once done, you get a virtual piano. When used on a floor, it can stretch the width of a room. [Read more…]

Nook Android 2.2 Update Release Date is January 2011

We have heard reports today saying that the Nook Color will be getting an Android 2.2 update sometime next month. The Android 2.2 update appears that it makes the device more tablet than eReader.

The Android 2.2 update for Nook will bring a retooled Android Market as well as a more traditional Android home screen. Pinch to zoom is also being added to the browser. [Read more…]

Amazon Windowshop iPad App Launches in Europe

Amazon has launched a new app for the iPad called Windowshop. The new app allows users in the UK, France and Germany to browse Amazon within an app rather than via the Safari browser.

The new layout in the app has been designed specifically for the iPad in that icons are spaced out more and the whole experience is more friendly for the touchscreen tablet. [Read more…]

Angry Birds Now at 50 Million Downloads

Rovio has announced that they have hit 50 million downloads of the popular Angry Birds series of games.

The breakdown wasn’t fully complete when Vesterbacka spoke to TechCrunch, but what he did say was that 10 million of those were downloads on Android and we suspect that the majority of the rest will lean towards iOS rather than webOS versions. [Read more…]

Google Update the Android Market

For those of you running Google Android 1.6 and above, the company has now updated the Android Market to a new version. This new version brings a few new features that helps you to purchase apps more easily although it’s not rolled out to all devices just yet. The release will be happening over the coming weeks.

With a focus on improving discoverability and merchandising, we’ve introduced a new carousel on the home and category screens. Users can quickly flip through the carousel to view promoted applications and immediately go to the download page for the application they want. Developers have been very active in creating great Widgets and Live Wallpapers. To make it easier for users to find their favorites, we’re introducing two new categories for Widgets and Live Wallpapers. Applications that include Widgets and Wallpapers will be automatically added to those new categories.
