Although the video looks quite official (other than the usual leaky shake effect leaked gadgets have), it does pull elements from other videos of products. Facebook has launched a new app for the iPhone and Android devices. The Messenger app allows you to send text messages to individuals and groups who have accounts on Facebook. To send a message, you simply type the name of the person and the message is sent to their phone as a text message and the notifications service.

UK Motorola Xoom Android 3.1 Update Rolling Out
Motorola Xoom users in the UK are beginning to get the Android 3.1 update pushed out over the air. The new update is for Xoom 3G owners and is a little different from the Android 3.1 that rolled out to Xoom users earlier this year.
If you remember yesterday, US users of the Motorola Xoom got the Android 3.2 update which only added a small set of features to the device. So why does the UK only get 3.1? Well, 3.1 is different to the 3.1 seen earlier this year in the US in that microSD card support has been added in 3.1 although some features from 3.2 are missing.

iOS 5 Beta 5 Released to Developers
Apple has released the next version of iOS 5 to developers. This time it’s Beta 5 that brings a few more fixes and modifications. The new beta 5 does work as an OTA update although to get iOS 5 to recognise it, you need to do a full erase of your iPhone or iPad. When booted you’ll then be able to download the OTA update and once installed, you can restore your iPhone/iPad from an iCloud backup or restore it from a recent iTunes backup.

A few months ago, Google rolled out Gmail calling which allowed those in the US to make calls direct from Gmail. The service is now expanding in to other countries which will mean that 150 more destinations will have the ability to call mobiles and landlines direct from their email accounts.
Microsoft and Nokia Event Being Held on August 17
In a few weeks time on August 17, Nokia and Microsoft will be holding a special event. The event is being held in Cologne, Germany at the GamesCon trade fair. It isn’t fully known how many Nokia/WP smartphones will be on show at the event, ie… which smartphone will be revealed, but what we do see is the Nokia and Windows Phone logo on show which guarantees that we’ll see where Nokia is at with the new operating system while also getting launch details of the device.
