Ever since the Steve Jobs biography was released and the comment about him finally cracking the TV, we’ve heard a ton of rumours about what the new Apple TV will be like and when it will be launching. The latest report now indicates that Apple [AAPL] is actively seeking component suppliers for building a TV. This has been labelled as more evidence of Apple building a TV. Please note that the Apple TV and new Apple TV are different in that the current generation model is a device that connects to a regular TV. The new Apple TV is a whole TV that will have iOS integrated. A mockup/render is found below.

Another Quad-Core Phone Revealed – the LG X3
The LG X3 is a quad-core smartphone that is scheduled to be launched in 2012. The device is expected to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich when it launches and will have a large 4.7 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
iBooks 2 Reveals Some High-Res Images
We mentioned earlier that iBooks 2 launched yesterday. Along with bringing Textbooks and a whole revamp of where media is going, we are not getting in to some of the technical details behind it. By looking around the package a user has found a few high-res images that are used by the iPad version.
Nike+ FuelBand Announced
Nike has announced the Nike+ FuelBand. The bracelet is similar to others you may have seen before which includes the Jawbone UP. Nike has a slightly different approach with this device and uses a calorie counter on a display. The device connects via Bluetooth to an iPhone or can be synced by USB and can be monitored online so that you can set goals and track if you are reaching those goals.
iBooks 2 Launches
Apple has launched iBooks 2. The new app comes as a free update to the original iBooks app and is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Several new features have landed in version 2 which includes multi-touch textbooks that bring diagrams, photos and videos to the user. 3D objects can now be found in books as well as videos and other interactive content.
New iPad Case Hints at a Thicker iPad 2S
Before I begin I’ll just comment that this needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as it contains an iPad 3 (or 2S) rumour.
A case manufacturer has created a new case that has been designed for an iPad 2S. The company believes that the new iPad will be a small update similar to that of the iPhone 4 to 4S. The main difference with dimensions will be that it is slightly thicker as previously rumoured.
Smartphone Data Plan Prices Increased at AT&T
AT&T [T] has changed pricing on its data plans. These new plans cover all tablets and smartphones. Pricing starts at $20/month which gives 300MB/month. Upping that to $30/Month you’ll get 3GB of data which is likely to be a plan that most opt for. Finally, for those even more consuming users there’s also a $50/month price plan which gives 5GB of data.
iOS 5.1 Beta 3 Hints At Siri for the iPad and iPod touch
Now that iOS 5.1 Beta 3 has been seeded to developers, we are now seeing reports and hints at what could be included in future updates. One of the first discoveries is that the iPad and perhaps the iPod touch could be getting some form of Siri.
iOS 5.1 Beta 3 Now Available
Apple has released a new beta version of iOS 5.1. This time it’s Beta 3 which brings us another step closer to a final release.
Not many changes are found within beta 3 other than the usual list of bug fixes which iron out problems before the final launch. What has changed in this version is the Enable 3G toggle which was removed on the iPhone 4S.
iOS Devices to Get Quad-Core Processors
The beta of iOS 5.1 has some indications that the next iPad and iPhone will run a quad-core processor. That particular processor is expected to be an Apple A6 provided by Samsung. Although a quad-core chip is not really a surprise, what is good to see is that the iOS 5.1 beta has references to such a processor.
Apple Could Add Thunderbolt in iOS Devices
New patents published in the US hint that iOS devices could be getting a Thunderbolt port. One of the patents says “a connection may be provided between a portable media player and a display, a computer and a portable media player, or between other types of devices.” which has led a number of people to believe that this will include iOS devices.
All Phones in Chile Must be Sold Unlocked
Starting Monday January 16 2012, Chile requires that all phones sold must be sold unlocked. This applies to every cellphone. This requirement will mean that any cellphone will work on any compatible network in the country.
