It appears that Apple has accidentally released a test app in to the App Store. The test app is called GameStore and is a very simple app that appears to test the ability to use in-app purchases on the iPhone. The app costs 99 cents and allows users to test in-app purchases and other than that… it does nothing else.

Just over half of all mobile devices browsing the web were created by Apple. Numbers are showing that at the end of 2011, Apple had a 52.1 percent share of mobile browser traffic.

60beat has launched a new games controller for iOS devices. The controller is called GamePad and is unique in that it uses the headphone port of any iOS device to function. As it uses a 3.5mm jack, all power is provided by the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch meaning that no charging/batteries are needed.
Facebook Timeline Support for iPad Rumoured for January Launch
Facebook released Timeline to all desktop users in the middle of December. A few days later the universal iPhone/iPad app for Facebook was updated although Timeline was only given to iPhone users on this app update.
We now hear that by the end of January another update will happen which will allow iPad users to be able to use Timeline via the Facebook app.
iOS 5.0.1 ultrasn0w Unlock Extends to More Devices
ultrasn0w has received an update which now brings it up to version 1.2.5. Along with that update comes more support for unlocking devices running the iOS 5.0.1 operating system.
It Could be Time to Update from iOS 3.1.3 – App Store No Longer Works for You – Might be a Bug
Update: It appears that this was a bug and that 3.1.3 devices are now once again able to access the App Store direct on their iOS device.
iPhone and iPod touch users still running iOS 3.1.3 are now (as of the 16th December 2011) unable to directly download apps from the App Store. Instead, new updates and apps will need to be downloaded in iTunes and then synced to the iPhone or iPod.
New Information Hints at a 7.85 Inch iPad mini for Q4 2012 Launch
Apple could be planning to launch a smaller iPad in time for Christmas 2012. This new iPad would follow along from the iPad 3 that is expected in April. The difference will be the screensize of 7.85 inches as opposed to the regular 9.7 inch iPad screen we see on the yearly generation changes.
Google Majel to Tackle Apple Siri
Google [GOOG] is believed to be working on a new voice system for Android. The system is codenamed Majel after the voice of the Federation computers on Star Trek. Majel is the next step in voice support for Android devices and will follow on from Google Voice Actions. Rather than just repeating set instructions such as “Sent text to fred”, Majel will follow more closely with Siri and allow certain variations so that more natural language can be used.
Microsoft Updates OneNote for iOS and Brings it to the iPad
Microsoft [MSFT] has launched an update for OneNote on iOS devices. Before the latest update (version 1.3) the app had been restricted for use on the iPhone and iPod touch. The new update now brings OneNote to the iPad although the app isn’t universal which means you’ll need to install the iPad version for the iPad, rather than the same version for both devices.
Apple Mac App Store Hits 100 Million Downloads
Apple has announced that the Mac App Store has just hit a milestone. The company has commented that over 100 million downloads have occurred on the app store which launched less than a year ago.
The App Store was originally launched on iOS devices and quickly became popular on the iPhone and then on the iPad. Over 500,000 apps are available which have been download 18 billion times since launch. This number now averages around the 1 billion downloads each month. The Mac App Store works on a similar principle in that you use your Apple ID to log in with and can find apps from various categories to download on to your Mac.
Untethered iOS 5 Jailbreak Confirmed – Works on iOS 5.0.1
iOS developer Pod2g revealed a few days ago that he has managed to jailbreak iOS 5. What makes this jailbreak different is that it’s untethered. At the moment the only way to jailbreak is through a semi-tether which allows you to boot your iPhone but with some restrictions until you can tether it to re-enable it.
Apple to Launch iPad 3 in April – No Surprise There (Rumour)
A report today indicates that the iPad 3 will be launched by Apple in 3 – 4 months time. This comes as no real surprise really as April 2012 will be about a year since the iPad 2 launched and 2nd year before the original iPad.
DigiTimes comments that the parts needed to build the iPad 3 have started to arrive at the factory. As well as new parts arriving, orders are also supposedly being decreased for the iPad 2.
