TomTom for iPhone Coming Soon

tomtom-iphone-appTomTom has always been a brilliant sat nav system which gives detailed 3D or 2D turn by turn navigation. It was recently announced that it will be coming to the iPhone as a new application to launch this summer for the iPhone 3G S. As well as the iPhone getting TomTom, a new mount with charging capabilities will also be made available.

The TomTom mount is capable of being attached to your windshielf and uses a twist and lock mount that is foldable ready for carrying around. The twist function allows TomTom to be used in either portrait or landscape mode. [Read more…]

iTunes 8.2 Released in Preparation for iPhone 3

itunes_appleApple have launched iTunes 8.2 which now supports iPhone OS 3.0 and more then likely has been released in time for the rumoured announcement of the iPhone 3 that should be made official next week. Other then support for the new iPhone OS there isn’t that much else that’s new in the latest iTunes release.

iPhone 3 Rumour Round-up

Over the last few months there have been a bunch of rumours around the internet about a possible (and probable) iPhone 3 that will be introduced at WWDC next week.

Rumours have mentioned an upgraded camera, front camera for video calls, relocated higher speaker, ability to send recorded videos, video uploading direct to Youtube, OLED screen, faster wi-fi and 3G speeds, HD Video support, improved battery life with % indicator, digital compass, Nike+ support, matt rubber backing, Adobe Flash support, 32GB of storage and improved RAM. The image above shows a few more and the colour coding represents the probability with green being a very likely down to orange being less likely.

iPhone 3 Specs Leaked

new-iphone-3It appears that some specs have leaked about the latest iPhone that is rumoured to be announced next month. The rumour comes from a Chinese Apple website and includes a picture of the technical specs. Specifications include a 32GB storage capacity, 600 MHz processor and 256MB of RAM.

If the rumours are true then we should be in for a snappier iPhone. To be honest it’s no real surprise that they would be bumping up the specs. The main questions left unanswered are what it will look like and if a hardware keyboard will be included. I don’t personally think they will bother with a keyboard, but I imagine that a slightly refined design in a similar shape and size to the current model will be in store. [Read more…]

iPhone App allows Barcode Scanning

iphone-bar-code-scannerYou may have seen ShopSavvy for Android based phones. That is an app which allows you to scan/photo the barcode of an item. When the item is found in a database it then pulls product prices to let you know where you can find it the cheapest. iPhones now have a similar program available which allows you to scan barcodes of products and search a database to find the best prices. The iPhone App is called Red Laser and is classed as “the ultimate iPhone barcode Scanner”. It gets it’s name from the red lasers you see at supermarket checkouts. [Read more…]

FliPhone – iPhone Controlled Wi-Fi Helicopter

fliphone-iphoneThe FliPhone is a program which allows you to use the accelerometers on the iPhone to fly a model helicopter. By tilting the phone you can control how the blades and whatnot are moved around. However, there is one problem in that the iPhone doesn’t have a transmitter compatible with a regular RC helicopter. To solve this problem wi-fi on the phone was used which connected up to a Linksys router to get an IP address. Along with using SSH and various other nerdy type stuff the RC helicopter can now be controlled by the iPhone wirelessly. [Read more…]
