GPush brings Push GMail to iPhone

GPushGMail users currently cannot have their email pushed to the iPhone. According to TechCrunch, that is about to change (hopefully). I add the hopefully because the software to do this, named GPush, has not been approved by Apple as of yet. is now available for download at the app store.

The GPush application is very simple for the user and all the user has to do is enter their GMail username and password. Once that is complete then they never really need to look at the 99 cent application again (unless wanting to log in as a different GMail user). [Read more…]

tom-tom-iphone-appOver the weekend the iPhone CoPilot satnav application became available costing just $34.99. TomTom iPhone has now been launched and is available on the iTunes store in the US costing $99.99.

Can the more expensive price of $99.99 beat the CoPilot application? I think possibly yes as TomTom is a big and trusted name when it comes to satellite navigation. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone Explosion – Yes, Another One

iphone_homeAnother report of an iPhone Explosion is moving around the web today. This time the report comes from France where a French teenager claims to have been hit in the eye from a flying bit of glass caused by a screen exploding.

The report also mentions that the phone made the traditional hissing sound which followed by the screen breaking. Another report was recently mentioned a couple of weeks back from Liverpool where an iPhone was heard to be hissing and apparently jumped several feet in the air after being thrown out to the garden.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission in California also has documents outlining another 15 cases of burns cases as a result of people chilling out with their iPod tunes.

iPhone Duke Nukem 3D

Underground iPhone App Store Becoming More Popular

iPhone-DevelopersApple recently rejected the new Google Voice app in it’s app store which caused a bit of a stir in the industry. The FCC jumped in to this last week. All that aside, it has started to annoy developers that Apple have such a heavy hand on this matter. It appears that more and more developers are moving over to an underground app store for the iPhone called Cydia. This is the app store which is home to apps that Apple doesn’t approve.

The 5 month old store is run by Jay Freeman and is currently growing at a tremendous rate. About 10 percent of the 40 million iPhone/iPod Touch users have logged in to the store to download software. About 470000 users per day connect to the store which is an increase of just a few months ago that saw 350000 per day. [Read more…]

RightMove iPhone App Puts a Million Properties in your Pocket

RightMove is one of the big names in the UK housing market. They list millions of properties for sale and rent. They have now launched a new iPhone App which aims to put the housing market right in your pocket. By using your current co-ordinates it helps you track down houses for sale in the exact location where you are. You also can browse while out and about and scan through photos of the houses on offer as well as having the capability to call the agents to arrange viewings.

iPhone Charging with a Netbook Battery

netbook-iphone-chargerA guy over at prusadjs has hacked up his old MSI Wind 3 cell battery, attached a USB connector and now it is capable of charging an iPhone.

The iPhone takes about 2.5 hours to fully charge and the netbook battery is left with about 50% of it’s charge left meaning a second full charge of the iPhone should be possible. [Read more…]

iPhone Document Scanner

Documents taken by hand normally came out clear, but occasionally there was a bit of blur which is why this iPhone Document Scanner was his answer. Spotify-iPhoneSpotify is becoming huge over the recent months and is now making it’s way to the iPhone. The spotify app has been sent over to Apple for approval to be added to the App Store. If approved it will allow you to create playlists and share them with others by creating a permanent URL for linking to. Services like ShareMyPlaylists are also handy here to see what other music tastes Spotify users have.
