Microsoft Courier Coming 2011

The Microsoft Courier was first introduced/leaked sometime last year where we saw a dual screen device running a relatively unknown operating system and user interface. However, it looked fantastic and yet we’ve not really had any official word about it’s existence other than a brief slip up on a Microsoft blog.

The NYT has received information from a Microsoft [MSFT] employee indicating that the device is most certainly real and that the same person has seen a working version of it (not just drawings and animations like we have seen).

The Microsoft Courier has been described as being the same size as a paperback book when closed making it ideal to carry around. The main problems at the moment from what we have heard elsewhere is getting a good enough battery life with the dual screen setup. [Read more…]

Google Chrome OS Netbooks to Cost $300 – $400

Details of the Google Chrome OS netbook have been revealed by the CEO of Google [GOOG] Eric Schmidt. The price we should expect to pay for netbooks running the Chrome OS will be in the 300 – 400 dollar price range with those prices being led by the proce of processors, glass and other components needed to make it run.

The price of the netbooks are all of what we just mentioned as there is no cost to using the Chrome OS other than the technology required to run it. Google make their revenues by other means rather than selling software licences. In the video below we also hear that Google want carriers to bundle the netbooks with contracts to get them out there at a lower start cost. [Read more…]

Jetyo HDV-T900 Camcorder has Dual Solar Panels

Jetyo isn’t a company I have particularly heard of before, but this new camcorder looked unique enough to give it a mention.

What makes the Jetyo HDV-T900 camcorder stand out is it’s dual solar panels that allow it to charge rechargeable AAA batteries that are used inside it. The device is powered by 4xAAA batteries, and when rechargeable AAA batteries are used the solar panels built in, can be used to recharge the device.

Other technical features include a 5 megapixel sensor that can capture a 1280 x 720 image allowing it to record 720p at 30 frames per second. If still images are being captured then these are captured at 12 megapixels. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4G to Launch in June – Rumour due to AT&T Blocking Holiday

This year it seems like Apple [AAPL] are actually going to launch the iPhone 4G a little earlier in June if a mixture of rumours and AT&T sources are to be believed.

The reason we think the iPhone 4G is coming in June is due to AT&T sources saying that the carrier has put a block on staff taking vacations in June (normally July in previous years). According to BGR, the only time Apple do a complete block on vacations like this is when a new iPhone is about to launch.

What we don’t understand is why the block is a month early unless the iPhone 4G is launching as soon as the announcement has been made (which we believe is June 22) and then carries on through the end of June in to July. [Read more…]

Nokia X6 Review

The Nokia X6 is a music phone that aims to join the touchscreen device area of phones that Apple, HTC and only a few others have managed to make happen well.

The phone it’s self looks to be a slider phone from when you first take it out of the box, but it’s actually not and just a touchscreen device with no stylus or physical keyboard. Reasons for believing it’s a slider is due to it being quite thick (13.8mm) which is a fair bit for a phone without a keyboard. Looks wise it looks quite sleek still even though a little fatter than most phones.

On the front of the device is a touchscreen that measures 3.2 inches. It is capacitive and has a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels which Nokia call nHD although of course, it’s no where near a HD screen in terms of pixels on the screen although it does look very clear when using the screen. Above that is a front facing camera that allows you to make video calls. Below the screen are three buttons which are send call, end call and menu. [Read more…]
