Smartbook Surfer Internet Tablet

The Surfer Tablet is heading to Germany soon from what we hear. It’s not a tablet we’ve heard of before although it sounds quite interesting.

The tablet runs Google Android 2.1, has a 7 inch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and is powered by a 720MHz CPU along with 256MB of RAM.

Other features include 2GB of NAND Flash memory built in for storing data as well as the ability to complement that using a micro SD memory card. Details of the maximum sized card you can install have not been provided.

For connectivity it has Wireless 802.11b/g although there is no 3G support from what we can figure out. [Read more…]

iPod touch 4 Case Spotted

Rumours about an iPod touch 4 have been going around for a while now. A number of leaks of the screen with a front facing camera have been published on the web along with iOS details that indicate the next gen iPod touch 4 will get email activated FaceTime calling abilities.

The next detail shows an iPod touch 4 case that has a cut out for a camera on the back that is slightly wider indicating that a flash will also be included.

Some design changes to the new device could include getting rid of the curved back and replacing it with a flat back. [Read more…]

iPhone and Palm Pre Bundled in to One Device

If you can’t decide between an iPhone or a Palm Pre then perhaps this import device might be for you. According to the site that sells it, it’s a Palm Pre with QWERTY keyboard that not only has webOS running inside, it also has iOS (well, a fake iOS we should say). Looking closer at the pictures you can see it’s clearly not the real deal in terms of Apple [AAPL] software.

Other features include an iPhone home button, dual SIM card slots, 3 inch touchscreen with a 240 x 400 resolution, dual cameras, FM Radio, microSD card slot (up to 4GB), Bluetooth and WiFi. [Read more…]

Android Tablets on Orange FR Arriving Soon

Orange in France will be offering Android based tablets in the near future. The tablets will be self-branded and will be launched before Christmas this year.

Price wise, the Orange Tablets will be priced at ‚¬250 and are being built by an Asian OEM which could mean Acer or MSI for example. As they will be sold by a carrier it is also expected that each of them will have 3G built in. [Read more…]

Canon EOS 60D 18 Megapixel 1080p DSLR Announced

Canon has announced it’s latest Digital SLR camera today. The new camera is the Canon EOS 60D that bring an articulating display, 18 megapixel sensor and the ability to capture video in full HD.

The articulating screen measures 3 inches and is a Vari-Angle Clear View LCD screen that can display 1,040,000 dots. The screen has an anti-reflective coating on it along with smudge resistance. With the screen being articulating it allows pictures to be captured from high up or low down where you can’t look through the view finder.

For the first time on an EOS camera, the EOS 60D DSLR boasts a three-inch Vari-Angle Clear View LCD screen, EOS Full HD video recording with manual overrides including audio level control, and in-camera functionality for RAW image processing plus Creative Filters to manipulate images after taking them. Designed primarily for advanced amateurs, the EOS 60D replaces the EOS 50D and boasts a broad array of new features that make it easier for photographers to add personal creativity to their images. Google Launch Gmail Calling Service

Google [GOOG] has announced a new service that allows Gmail users to make phone calls from Gmail to regular phones. Previously the video and call service was restricted to a computer to computer set up which required the call receiver to be sat at a computer or other connected device such as a laptop.

The service is rolling out right now for those Gmail users in the US. If you are not in the US then you’ll need to wait a little longer although Google did mention that the service will eventually arrive to others.

Call costs in the US and Canada are free for the rest of this year. International calls go as low as 2 cents per minute to countries such as the UK. A comparison chart can be found here which is worth reading as calls to UK landlines are 2 cents like mentioned a moment ago although calls to a UK mobile are 18 cents. [Read more…]

JVC Picsio HD Pocket Cameras Announced

JVC has announced a couple of pocket sized HD camcorders. The two new models fall in the JVC Picsio range and are called the GC-WP10 and the GC-FM2.

Each of the cameras is capable of capturing HD video up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. Each is also capable of capturing video in low light situations. A three inch touch screen can be found on the back that lets you control various aspects of the camera as well as play back video that you have stored on the memory card.

The Picsio GC-WP10 is waterproof as well letting you use it in more rugged environments. [Read more…]

LG C900 Windows Phone 7 on AT&T [T] Gets FCC Approval

The FCC has approved the LG C900 Windows Phone 7 smartphone for use on the AT&T [T] network.

The C900 is a landscape slider phone that has WCDMA bands II and V making it compatible with the AT&T network.

If you remember back to the weekend, the LG C900 was captured showing an AT&T logo on the Windows Phone 7 home screen which indicated a new update of the OS had landed that allowed for a bit of carrier branding. [Read more…]

Apple iPad Used to Self-Order at Restaurants

Over in Japan, Sharp is testing a new ordering system for restaurants that allows customers to use an iPad to order food rather than a traditional paper/card menu.

The system is being built for Izakaya Japanese-style restaurants.

The system works by loading up an app that displays everything that’s on offer in the restaurant. The guests seated at tables can then easily pick and choose what quantities of food they want. We assume that paying via iPad will also be possible. [Read more…]

Nokia 5250 Touchscreen Symbian^1 Official

Nokia has announced a new touchscreen phone called the Nokia 5250. The 5250 is a budget touchscreen device that follows along the lines of the 5800 theme of phones.

The technical specs reveal that the device has a 2.8 inch touchscreen that has a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. On the back is a 2 megapixel camera and it runs Symbian^1. Price wise, it will cost $145 USD when launched. This price is before tax or subsidies. [Read more…]

Sony Alpha a33 and a55 Announced

As well as launching the Sony Alpha a560 and a580, Sony is also launching the a33 and a55 digital SLR cameras.

The A55 and A33 digital SLR cameras use a new translucent mirror technology that allows for autofocus to function at up to 10 frames per second on the A55 and up to 7 fps on the A33.

Each camera is capable of capturing full HD AVCHD video. The A55 has a 14.2 Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor while the A33 has a 14.2 sensor. [Read more…]
