Kohjinsha Dual-Screen Netbook Hands-On

kohjinsha-2x-ceatec-rm-engKohjinsha has created an interesting looking dual-screen netbook that has two 10.1 inch LCD screens built in that can display either 1024 x 600 pixels or HD at 1366 x 768 pixels. A unique sliding mechanism on the screens allows one to slide behind the other allowing it to be more compact when carrying around.

The dual-screen netbook is DirectX 10 compatible and runs an AMD Athlon MV-40 and has a 2.5 inch SATA HDD. Memory wise it can take up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. The netbook when launched will run Windows 7 Home Premium. [Read more…]

Samsung Behold II AMOLED Android Phone

SGH-t939_right1Samsung are launching a new Android phone on to the T-Mobile network in the US. The phone is the Samsung Behold II and it features a 3.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen along with a 5 megapixel camera.

Other features of this phone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G connectiity. The Behold II uses the TouchWiz UI that overlays on top of Android. All the regular google style apps can be found in the Android OS phone that includes maps, voice search, youtube etc… Also included with this phone is Microsoft Exchange support which is a nice addition allowing the phone to be used more in businesses that support Exchange server.

Storage wise the memory can be expanded up to 16GB by using microSD cards. [Read more…]

Exemode Yashica DVF828 Digital Photo Frame and Scanner

exemode-yashica-DVF828Yesterday we mentioned a new Sony digital photo frame that also housed a photo printer. Today we came across the Exemode Yashica DVF828 digital photo frame that actually is home to a scanner.

The frame has an 8 inch screen inside that displays an 800 x 600 pixel resolution and 1GB of memory can be found inside that you can use to save scanned in images to, or store transferred images from your PC. Viliv X70EX Coming to America

The satnav device comes in 2 versions with the lower one having 16GB of memory and the higher spec navigation device having a 32GB SSD to store your media on.

Dell Latitude Z 600 16″ Laptop Announced

dell_latitude_z_600_official_1Dell have released details of their latest flagship business laptop. It is named the Dell Latitude Z 600 and has a 16 inch screen that can display a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. The keyboard on the Dell Z 600 is backlit.

When buying the Dell Z 600 laptop you have the choice of 2 processors which include an Intel Core 2 Duo running at 1.4GHz (SU9400) or a 1.6GHz SU9600 processor. Memory wise you can opt to have up to 4GB installed as well as dual SSD drives for storage if wanted.

The Dell Z 600 laptop also has an optional wireless charging stand that costs around $200 for each of the stand and wireless module for the laptop. Also a wireless dock that houses a USB, DVI and other connections can be purchased. [Read more…]

My Documents Laptop Bag

my_documents_laptop_sleeveThe My Documents folder found on Windows PC’s is a popular place where you find a bunch of your images, videos and other types of documents… hence the name. Now the My Documents folder has been made in to a laptop bag that lets you store all of your documents, ie your laptop, in a nice handy case.

The case it’s self is bright yellow to reflect what it looks like on the desktop. The font used is pixelated to give it that computer look. The laptop bag can hold laptops with screens up to 15.4″ in size.

Augmented Reality brings Google Earth to Life

Google-Earth-Augmented-RealityAlthough Google Earth is a fantastic program allowing you to quickly zoom in and out of most of the earth with an excellent amount of detail, what it still lacks is life as everything you look at is static.

A new system being tested brings real time events to Google Earth to make an augmented reality. Examples of this working could be zooming in to a road to see cars driving and pedestrians walking. The data used to generate this information actually captures the current live traffic and current locations of pedestrians to let you know how busy a certain area is. Another example allows you to zoom in to a football stadium and actually see a clip from several angles of people playing football. [Read more…]

In this case we are actually reviewing “The Video Gaming Manual” which is described as the essential guide to modern and retro gaming platforms.

On the cover of the manual are a bunch of old computers and consoles ranging from a ZX Spectrum, to a Sega Master System, on to a Game Cube and then to a Playstation 3. The book starts off describing what video gaming is, when it first started and the steps it took to get to where it is today. Each page is printed in full colour and each page also has plenty of images from various games with many of them being very familiar and popular games of the past. [Read more…]

Dell Studio XPS now with Intel Core i7 Processors

dell-studio-xps16Dell are now starting to include the Intel Core i7 8200M 1.73GHz processor in their Dell Studio XPS 16 range of notebooks. The Intel Core i7 is touted to be the fastest mobile processor available.

The top end processor gives up to 137% more performance than the Core 2 Duo processors. Also included in the XPS range is a 1GB ATI graphics card that can provide full HD at 1080p on the optional 16″ LED display. [Read more…]

TomTom iPhone Kit now in the UK – Update

tomtom-car-kit-for-iphone-3gsThe TomTom car kit for the iPhone 3G S is now available to pre-order from the Apple Store in the UK. It costs £100 but that does does-not include a copy of TomTom navigator for the iPhone which isn’t is quite bad. Shipping will start in 2 or 3 weeks.

The TomTom car kit allows you to secure your iPhone to the dashboard or windscreen of your car. The unit contains it’s own GPS unit that can provide a more reliable signal. Also a built in mic and loadspeaker are also included so you can make hands free calls as well as listen to directions as they are read out. [Read more…]

Over 30 New Smartphones to run Windows 6.5 by Christmas

windows-mobile-65A Microsoft Executive has commented saying that more that 30 new Windows Mobile 6.5 devices will be launched before the end of this year. These will be made up from over 15 handset vendors which include HTC, Acer, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba, HP as well as others.

As well as handset makers getting involved, a number of carriers have also shown interest which includes…”AT&T, Sprint Nextel, Verizon Wireless, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, NTT DoCoMO, Softbank Mobile, SKT, Telstra and Telus, have also voiced support for Windows Mobile 6.5, the sources added.” [Read more…]

Roomba Art

Roomba-ArtRoomba Robot Vacuum cleaners normally have the job of cleaning the carpets of your home and then docking to charge ready for the next scheduled task of cleaning your carpet again. Well, that’s what I thought till I came across this funky flickr group who use long-exposure photography to capture their vacuums randomly roaming around their carpets.

It appears like LED’s are attached to the vacuum cleaners and small piles of dirt thrown on the carpet to create some unique imagery and circles. Check out the pictures below (after the jump). [Read more…]
