Eye-Fi Cards now Support FTP

eye-fi-wi-fi-sd-cardEye-Fi cards are unique as they can wirelessly connect your digital camera up to a wireless network for instant transfer of pictures. Pictures are generally sent to photo sharing sites such as Flickr. It seems that Eye-Fi cards now have the option of FTP file transfer allowing you to bypass any restrictions that Flickr and other companies have.

All you need to get this going is an FTP server (you can configure your home computer to be one), or use a webserver if you run a website, and an Eye-Fi card that supports Online Sharing (there are several versions of Eye-Fi cards available, so you might not have the correct type for this). Casio Exilim EX-FC150 Announced

Casio_EX_FC150_1Casio are launching a new point and shoot camera called the Casio Exilim EX-FC150. The camera is an upgrade from the previous EX-FC100 series camera and has been upgraded with a new CMOS sensor that can capture images at 10 megapixels. The sensor is also backlit.

The 37-185mm lens is capable of 5x optical zoom and has sensor shift stabilization. Continuous shooting can be performed up to 40 photos (not sure if that’s per second or in one burst of shots).

Just like the EX-FC100 the EX-FC150 can also capture highspeed movies at up to 1,000 frames per second although the resolution drops considerably to achieve that down to 224×64 pixels. [Read more…]

Palm webOS 1.3.1 Now Available

paid-palm-pre-appsIf you have a Palm Pre on the Sprint network then information on the Palm site indicates an update to webOS is being launched on November 15 (although some reports are saying you can get it right now). The update takes webOS from version 1.2.1 to 1.3.1. Information in version text at Palm indicates that no new applications are being added, but that some changes are being made to current versions of the applications.

Updates include backups now saving cookies so that when a restore is done you can continue using websites where your username and password has been stored. [Read more…]

Samsung Vodafone 360 M1 Launched

Vodafone_360_Samsung_M1_Black_h1Vodafone are now selling the Samsung M1 in the UK costing nothing when paying £20/month on a 2 year agreement. If you prefer an 18 month agreement then the cost is £35/month currently.

The Samsung M1 is a Vodafone 360 phone that has a large touchscreen. Software called 3D contacts allows you to tap on a photo of a friend to chat with them or send them a message. Intel Reader Captures Words, Reads them back to you

intel-readerIntel are launching a new portable reader device that is designed for those with vision or reading-related disabilities such as blindness or problems with vision in general. The Intel Reader can be used to capture text from printed material and once captured it converts it to a digital form for magnification or audio playback.

Inside the device has a camera along with an Intel Atom processor that allows relatively fast conversion of printed material to digital text or audio. [Read more…]

HTC-HD2-InnardsXDA Developers are full of good information today. We literally just wrote about Google Maps Navigation hacked on to the T-Mobile G1 and now we see a new HD2 has been taken apart to show what exactly is inside the casing of the giant screen phone.

With the car finder app using augmented reality it makes use of your iPhone’s camera and overlays data of where your car is on to the stream of video displayed on the screen. The GPS part of the phone tracks where you are and figures out where your car is while the digital compass on the iPhone can help you figure out which direction your car is by detecting which direction the camera is facing. LG Chocolate Touch Launched

The LG Chocolate Touch is designed for those who love music and comes equipped with Dolby Mobile sound. On the music side of the phone it has an FM radio, integrated song ID, dedicated side key for access to songs and for connectivity to headsets, Bluetooth is also included.

Software built in to the phone has a feature called “Join the Band” where a drum kit is launched on the screen allowing users to tap away to music and join in. As well as having the band feature the phone also has the Join the Band piano function that allows users to join in music on an 88 key on-screen piano. [Read more…]

HTC DROID Eris November 6

HTC DesireVerizon have officially announced that they will be offering the HTC DROID Eris and that it will be launched tomorrow on their network. The DROID Eris is another version of the HTC Hero and has a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen along with a 5 megapixel camera, EVDO Rev.A and it uses the HTC Sense user interface.

For storage the HTC Eris has a microSD card slot with an 8GB microSD card being provided in the box. The phone unfortunately does not run the Android 2.0 operating system which of course means it will lack the fancy new Google Maps Navigation that the Motorola DROID will be getting. [Read more…]

Nokia launch 5 new Mobile Phones in Indonesia

Nokia-2690Nokia have announced five new mobile phones that are heading to Indonesia. The phones named the Nokia 1280, Nokia 1616, Nokia 1800, Nokia 2220 slide and Nokia 2690 are all affordable phones and easy to use which support the Nokia Life Tools. As well as being targeted at Indonesia, Nokia also mention that the phones will be available worldwide.

Gigabye Booktop M1305 gets Desktop Dock

gigabyte_booktop_m1305_1Gigabyte are launching a new Booktop called the M1305 that comes with a desktop docking station to give the graphics a little extra kick.

The new Booktop has a 13.3 inch screen that can display a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and has an Intel CULV processor inside. The dock features an NVIDIA GeForce GT220 GPU with 1GB of DDR3 memory that allows the Booktop to get a boost when docked.

Inside you’ll find 4GB of memory as well as a storage capacity of up to 500GB depending on the option you choose. An optical drive can also be found in the unit. [Read more…]
