Apple iPad Insides Revealed Courtesy of FCC

Have you been wondering what the Apple iPad looks like inside? The FCC have taken one apart to make sure it clears their tests and have posted the images on-line. One thing to note here is that this FCC teardown is no where near as in depth when compared to the one iFixit will do tomorrow, but it’s still interesting to see what’s going on in there including how much actual space there is available even though it contains a massive set of batteries.

The picture above shows the back panel (the screen rests on top of this) whereby the two large brick shaped objects are the batteries that keep it powered for 10+ hours. You can also see the dock connector running across the batteries and see that it’s slightly unfastened from the bottom edge of the iPad.

One of the images below shows the main circuit board that contains the brains that run this thing… ie the A4 chip although specific chip numbers have been covered up I guess to protect their identity before the launch… again, iFixit no doubt will reveal all chip numbers associated with the iPad. Marvel Comics App for Apple iPad Reviewed

BoingBoing were one of the lucky group to get hold of an Apple iPad before launch to give it a review. Along with that, another review was also done for the Marvel Comics App that is launching with the iPad.

When launched tomorrow, the Marvel Comics app will have 500 titles available for download. Most of the titles cost in the region of $1.99 to download them. As well as a number of them costing to download, there will also be sections available for free. The applications also includes access to all the classic comics which includes Avengers, X-Men, Hulk, Spider Man, IronMan and other titles that you will be familiar with.

The review is quite positive mentioning that the scrolling is intuitive, brisk and elegant. Smoothness of the application was also a nice element to it. [Read more…]

Apple iPad Queue Already Started

In NYC a queue for the Apple iPad has started… even though it’s more than a day away. The first person in-line is a guy called Greg Packer who incidentally was the same guy who sat 1st in line for the iPhone a few years ago.

The line has started and we hear there aren’t too many iPad’s going on sale, so if you want one you’ll need to get there and queue up behind him asap, or find another store to go to. Hopefully you did the sensible thing and just pre-ordered one online about 3 weeks ago and if so, it will be delivered right to your door this Saturday assuming you get Saturday UPS deliveries in your area. Windows Phone 7 Series Apple iPhone Theme in the Works

The Windows Phone 7 Series theme for the Apple iPhone [AAPL] is something you don’t expect to see every day. However, this has been done. A user called woocash-kun found over here has created a theme that runs on his iPhone.

The downside is that the theme hasn’t been release yet along with instructions on how to install it. If he does release it you’ll need to jailbreak your phone to install it.

What you will get in the theme is the home page for Windows Phone 7 Series that you can easily scroll down. Along with that a second page with smaller icons is also included. Right now some of it doesn’t work such as the status bar although there is a very good lock screen clone for those of you who prefer the WM7S version. [Read more…]

Apple iPad International Launch April 24 – Rumor

Apple [AAPL] are launching their iPad on Saturday 3rd April in the US… Wi-Fi only version. We are not sure why they chose Saturday for it as launch days are normally Friday, but however… it is indeed Saturday and that has been a known date for a while now. The only information we have heard concerning a launch date in the UK and other countries internationally is that it’s going to be late April.

We are now hearing reports that April 24th (again a Saturday – and the last Saturday in April I might add), has been tagged by the Apple Store in Canada as a “black-out date” which essentially means a date where no employees can take time off.

Considering it’s late April and it falling on the last Saturday in April, we are inclined to believe that the iPad could arrive in the UK, Canada and all other countries who were scheduled to get it late April on April 24. This we assume would also include the launch of the Apple iPad Wi-Fi+3G models too. [Read more…]

Smart Car gets Smartest Apple iPhone App

We don’t normally cover information about cars here at gadgetvenue, but for this new Apple iPhone app we thought it was worth a mention due to it being an in-car app for the iPhone.

The application is called Smartest and it’s a dock and application that integrates with your Smartcar. The application has been designed to be used in a car and thus, the icons are larger as well as the text larger and less clutter is to be found on the screen to avoid distracting the driver.

Functions include the ability to play your music over the cars internal radio. The application integrates with the music found on your iPhone and lets you browse through it to play it back in the car. It makes for a good music player. Another interesting application built in is internet radio that lets you stream music from radio stations around the globe to your iPhone and in turn, this is output to the speakers on the car.
