Game Center is part of the iOS 4.1 update that landed a few weeks back. However, it only works on the newer models of iPhone and iPod touch and leaves out the iPhone 3G from that compatibility list.
If you were disappointed by this news then perhaps take a look over at Redmond Pie who managed to get Game Center working on the iPhone 3G by making a few tweaks to the settings.
To get it working, the team used the Redsn0w jailbreak and edited a file within to switch the Game Center software back on. From looking at the video (embedded below), it seems to run quite well although there is a little lag in some places. The tripod works just like other Gorillapods in that it has the bendy/flexible legs. On top is the connection that allows for 360 degree smooth pan and a 135 degree tilt.
